2012 Sled of the year?? already

2012 sled of the year according to sled head 24/7

How can they decide this already? These sleds haven't been released. Deciding this on a few hundred miles of "test" riding just doesn't seem right to me. Or am I way off base?

I watched the show on tv, they gave a quick overview of each model in several different classes. I think they were mountian, trail, crossover and utility, not much on reviews and only pointed out petty issues like small windshields on this model and no DC plug on this model. I don't really believe what they say, its best for what you need not them. I do like the new cats however.

Snowmobiliers are going crazy over the NEW Cats. I was on a another board the other day and their were 98 people just in the Pro Cross forum .

It has gotton so bad with this early release thing that I don't even know what yr. we are on. Used to be September was early to see the next yrs. models let alone recieve them. To me it looks like we are getting last yrs. sleds with new stickers. How can they be "New" 2012's when we are only a third of the way through 2011.

Not to take anything away from the Cats, but no matter where you look it seems that the sled of the year is almost always the new chassis for that year, and Cat is only really new design this year.

I love watching SH24/7, probably watch each episode at least twice, but it's not the place to get any insight or evaluations.

Just like cars and trucks, anything new gets the win. Nothings proven, it's always based on hype. Only idiots fall into the trap. Which unfortunately is most of society.

A lot of it is just hype but I think the manufacturers are getting better. The '03 Rev was introduced in '02 on the snow cross tracks and although the '03 Rev wasn't the exact same sled a lot of what they learn on the track went into that sled. Same with the Polaris IQ and now AC has been racing a similar chassis on the track for three years now and the motors are nothing new, tried and true. I'm not really that worried about a lot of first year jitters with the new 2012 sled. I'm sure there will be things to figure out as fare set up and handleing as there always is with a new sled.

Heavy trucks and trailers started producing 2012's as early as January and most by February! They at least don't produce these sleds until almost 2012.

My 2009 Polaris 800 Dragon was also named sled of the year. I think we're all familiar with the motor issues those had. So yeah- I agree with whoever said- how the heck can they say this on a few hundred miles of test drive? The shiny new toy gets the award.

I know what everyone is saying, but if they didn't pick a sled of the year, people would complain too. Maybe they should do both a pre-2012 build and after the first season, sled of the year. SnowGoer will have a sled of the year too, as will others. We have to take it for what it is. The mountain sled winner was the same the past 2 years in a row, so I think they have that one right. The mountain winner was unanimous, even from the competitors.
