Ford released the new truck today. Aluminum body! Lighter and they claim stronger. Not to mention no rust.....

I really like the looks of the new truck. It is a lot like the Atlas concept they had in the auto show last year.
Rumor mill is 30MPG for the v6 eco boost. Official #'s still to be released.

I like it. I wouldn't jump too no rust too quickly. My Explorer has an aluminum hood and the leading edge has some corrosion that is making the paint bubble up. It isn't rust but it is basically the same thing. I will be interested to see what kind of power the 2.7 has, if it is similar to the Chevy 5.3 with a truck that is ~700 lbs less that could be a decent option.

I'll be sticking to my 2013 Ram.

The grill on that reminds me of the 2002-08 Rams, just looks way to big for the front end.

I've had great luck with Ford trucks over the years, and am intrigued by this. However, Ford does not have a good track record with aluminum bodies on their trucks. I'm on my second Expedition (need the seats to haul Boy Scouts) and they have had aluminum hoods and tailgates since at least '03. Bubbling paint and aluminum corrosion has been a common problem Ford has not been able to fix, and has not stood behind very well. Google Ford Expedition aluminum corrosion and you'll see a lot of issues.

The problem has been widespread, but somewhat hit or miss. I didn't have any problem with it on my '03, though it is almost impossible to find others of that vintage without the problem. When I shopped last year for a used replacement of my '03 I literally could not find an expedition from '03 on that didn't have some corrosion, including some 2012's. I settled on a '10 in good shape, but even it has quite a bit of it on the tailgate.

I'd definitely give this a few years to see if Ford has figured out how to paint the aluminum bodies without having corrosion problems.

I have a 2000 F-150. I replaced the aluminum hood with a steel one. The steel hood with paint and labor was cheaper than just the cost of an aluminum one.
