I have the SB 800 Pro-R model..love the shock package thru the bumps. Still having problems with ski lift (still fun out of the corners with one ski up) ...goggle bag on risers does get in the way of seeing mph, etc. Had a blast in 3 feet of snow in the UP of Mich. if you want deep snow rides and trail rides...then I recommend it. Hope this helps a little bit.

I have the 800 Pro/R and my wife has the standard 600. 1800 miles on both with no issues. The ride is terrific and I like the adjustability of the Pro/R shocks. The 800 motor is quite a bit stronger than the 600 on the low end. Inside ski lift would be the only negative that I have found but its not been a huge issue. For an overall trail sled, I would highly recommend.

my 800 switch is the best trail sled I ever rode..the 600 is lighter and the motor is bulletproof..if u like to gun outa the shoot, the skis on the 600 wont stay down..but there is a thread with adjustments somewhere out here..
I have a 600 pro r but it's 2012. Nice sled but it's a bit heavy when you get stuck in powder.
I run no studs on cobra track and 8" shapers. I'm over 250.
For inside ski lift; loosen front springs and harden clicker. Do one or two turns at a time and maybe one or two clicks. Start them from scratch to make sure they're even.
Loosen front track shock one or two turns. It'll lower center of gravity. Some guys automatically shorten the limiter strap. Make adjustments first IMO.
Tighten rear track shock above recommended weight and adjust clicker for ride typically softer.

I'm not sure about the rush. It's not an issue once you get it dialed in. It's just the number 1 complaint. I've had it on every sled. Those minor adjustments make a huge difference. It also depends on how hard you ride. Most people would have none that I ride with...sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Every time that I make a hard turn it seems faster than I did previously so I'm trying to get all I can out of the machine.

We ride up in Canada several times a year. The guys we ride with have 600 E-tecs Renegades. When we go to fill up there is really no difference between my wife’s 2012 600 switchback and the E-tecs. That is riding deep snow and loaded with packs. Oil mileage is the same as well. She has just about 6,000 trouble free miles on it.

my buddys is a regular 600 and lifts..my 800 lifts because of the power to one ski which is fine for me..actually like it..but his would need adjustment if he rode more

Never noticed a difference from any other sled. I can ride like a sissy and get double of what I would get by riding normal. It's that way on ANY sled I've rode.
I'd say average is 10.

On average, my Switchback 800 gets 10.5 MPG and the wife's 600 gets about 12 MPG. I rode a Yamaha Attak for 6 years prior to crossing back over to the "dark side" and if you are strictly after fuel and oil consumption it's a losing battle and you should look at a Phazer, Vector or some other 4 stroke. However, I have found many more positives than negatives on Switchback's and do not see myself switching brands again anytime soon...but that has just been my experience.
Have a switchback 600 and it is a nice sled. I have owned many sleds, most recently a 2003 polaris 600 edge with m-10 (my all time favorite), and a 2011 ski doo 600 GSX e tec. Switchback ride (straight line) is excellent, motor is strong. The e tec, in my opinion, is a more refined motor. Regardless, I prefer the sound and feel of the polaris powerplant. On tight trails, the switchback rides more sluggish, and requires quite a bit more effort, compared to the "old" edge chassis...I could go significantly faster through the tight twisties on the edge. That being said, I really prefer the "new" rider forward position in all other areas of riding. Going from sitting to standing is very easy, making the sled handle very well through many situations. The sled is also suprisingly good in deep snow. Regarding fuel consumption, I recently rode with ski doo and yamaha (attack) sleds. The polaris got similar mileage to the Yamaha, not as good as the doo...but not much worse. A solid sled and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again.
