2015 Polaris indy Engine cuts out

I have a 2015 Polaris indy and i've had a problem hear and there where when im standing up the sled will cut power for a split second and the engine light will flash. I assumed this was due to some sort of throttle positioning sensor or something. since the throttle is being held different when standing. I rode today and it seemed to do it more often. This time even when sitting in my normal riding position. I noticed it the most when I was in the heavy bumps. I came off a jump pretty hard then the engine light stayed on and it cut my power down. It would idle perfect but as soon as I would put my finger on my throttle it would turn on the engine light and keep the rpms limited when id try to go. I screwed around with the throttle seeing if I changed my grip or something if that would make it go away like it has in the past. no luck. then I took off my panels and saw one of my spark plug wires was just about off my plug. I changed plugs anyway and it still didn't have any effect, engine light was still on. Went to limp it back to the closest road, sled would only let me go 10mph and within 100 yards it cleared and was back to normal. Then did the same thing a few miles later and then cleared again. Rode for 10 miles or so after than without a problem. Any ideas?

Well the sled is clearly in limp mode. The DET was probably going off all those times the light flashed.

Do a compression test. Or pull the head. If it was DET, there a good chance you need pistons.

This sounds like a faulty throttle safety switch to me. If you take it apart and remove the parts on the inside you can reinstall and run it "gutted". My 16 pro did this and i gutted it.

Agree with Indy about the throttle safety switch, but before you
Disable set your throttle free play

sounds like the problem I had !! like engine would miss and lite come on and go out.be good on nice groomed trail .if you road it hard it would happen it was tps wiring !!! The harness had a tie strap pulled real tight to frame motor would flex in motor mounts and it rub though and was shorting out on frame!!

it took some time to find .Repaired wire and moved harness over and tie strapped it loosely it runs fine. 1000 + mile no problems

When you talk about running it "gutted do you mean take apart the saftely swtich in the throttle? Just take it apart at the handle bar and pull out the switch? Is there abny other way to by pass the switch? I followed the wireds do to the wiring harness and found a connection. I unplugged it and put a jumper wire in there and then fired it up and the engine light would be on and the sled in limp mode. So if i were to take out the switch at the handle bars wouldn't that make it do the same thing?

Had same exact issue on my '14 Indy 600, i.e., engine light coming on and going into limp mode (had to tow out of the woods one time). Last time it happened I was able to pull the engine code (look in your owners manual for process to pull engine codes) and it threw engine code 520194 ("Throttle Release Signal"). I adjusted the throttle free play to a credit card width as noted above (too much throttle free play seemed to be my issue) and no issues since. It's super easy to do, throttle free play adjusts just like a dirt bike, hardest part was getting the rubber boot off the adjuster which of course I destroyed in the process but no big deal. I'd say try this first and see if it's your cure!

Thanks to everyone for the help! I just adjusted the play in the throttle (it was really loose) and have rode 350 miles on it since without a problem. Easy fix!
