Hmmmm? No response on this is strange?Mach Z owners should have some opinions on the new Mach Z they bought. How is the turbo engine, smart shocks, launch button, wind protection , mpg, top speed. What more is needed and was it worth $20,000??
Yeah, well, their opinions, and thoughts sure are "limited", in absence, eh!Limited edition may have been more limited than we thought. Lol![]()
Not sure anyone has one with the smart shocks operable yet due to supplier problems.Hmmmm? No response on this is strange?
Yeah what I heard was a love or hate relationship but love was first hand hate was second hand so I’m not sure what to think and why I posted? I would think I would love the Mach as a power cruiser but I’m on a 900t Enduro.dfattack did comment on another post and is probably still out enjoying it to have time to post. With that said hasn’t been much traffic is this sight except for the handful of regular posters. Maybe by midweek. I did talk to someone with one and said after first ride was ready to give it back to dealer but then they had to calibrate it and had a chance to dial it in now he loves the smart shock.
the Mach is great on the trails too. Not just straight line cruising.Yeah what I heard was a love or hate relationship but love was first hand hate was second hand so I’m not sure what to think and why I posted? I would think I would love the Mach as a power cruiser but I’m on a 900t Enduro.![]()
Thanks Darren yes I knew you loved your Mach and I have ridden 1000s of miles with you so I was pretty sure you would like new Mach. I too miss eps and I’m fine with 150hp 900t and I did upgrade my windshield to Ultra high adjustable. I also like the different power modes Eco for load and unloading and putt putt for slow pace riding. I mostly ride in standard on twistys no use straining my arms , sport for grades. My 150 900t got about 15-16 mpg in standard about the same in sport well in the 20s in Eco. With our Apex we were looking for gas at 90 miles my Enduro much greater range sometimes wonder why I’m gassing when running with Apex. The Mach has a newly designed steering assembly so I was hoping for something like MPS from BOP for SWs. It will be interesting to compare my TS adjustable carbide skis with your pilots and snow trackers for steering effort. I also run with my riser all the way forward more control less overall riding efforts. Launch button for me isn’t that important either probably wouldn’t use it much I like engines that spool out power especially midrange on up Jack rabbit starts wreck trails seem stupid to me.Ok. Maybe I'm the only one with one here??
I can give some of my thoughts...which you already know Pete.
How is the turbo engine?
I would say the turbo engine feels similar to our Apex engines. Nice long linear pull. Not as snappy as the 850 which I don't care for, but my son loves.
smart shocks?
This is probably the nicest part of the "new" sled. I am really liking these and think they are a game changer for some.
launch button?
to be honest I could care less. Haven't tried it and probably will some day but it's not something that made me want to buy the sled.
Wind protection?
I added the medium to high windshield along with side deflectors and that helped but it's still a little cooler ride than our apex's with the larger windshield. Last couple weeks we were riding in some cold temps and were fine, just a touch colder. Grip warmers were set around 1/2 so more there if we need it.
MPG?
Honestly this was the most pleasant surprise besides the smart shox. We left Spread Eagle last Monday for Blink Bonnies around 11:30 am hoping to arrive at 4:00 when they opened and were about 15-20 mins late due to getting twisted around in Eagle River. I rarely ride in that area so it wasn't second nature. That whole time I only burned up slightly less than a quarter of a tank of gas when we fueled up in Eagle River. My son's 2021 850 XRS was just about the same but used just a touch more gas. He's more throttle happy than me most of the time.On the way home we headed north to Lando then watersmeet, then 2 all the way home and used just less than a half tank of gas. Keep in mind from watersmeet back home we are cruising at 70+ the whole way. I am very impressed in the fuel economy.
top speed?
Not sure on this one. I've seen 100 pop up on a few spots on the grade where it's possible but that's it. I only have maybe 700 miles on it so far and didn't want to push it during break in. I've read a lot on Doo talk about guys not happy with the low top end. My opinion is most prepared themselves for the fastest sled on the lake even against the tuned winders. That would have been a mistake to assume that. Some have indicated limited RPM's but some are figuring out what's up as we discuss this. This isn't a hot topic for me since I didn't buy the sled to be the fastest one across the lake. In fact, I hardly cross lakes...
What more is needed?
Power steering would be awesome on this sled...and others...and I don't care how much it weighs. Any sled build in the last 10 years are heavy...unless I'm just getting older
and was it worth $20,000??
Tough question. compared to what a similarly equipped XRS is or the winders I think it's only a couple grand more, but I'm not entirely sure. I did like the fact it was supposed to be a one year production run so maybe that would help resale but I honestly don't care about resale. I'm buying for my enjoyment now and will deal with resale later. Everything I've sold has been a good investment especially in this market. I just sold a 2004 Yamaha Kodiak for what I paid for in back in 2003! I don't expect the market to remain like this forever but even before this market I was getting my asking price for everything. Maybe I'm not asking enough??
I hope that gives you a basic summary of the Mach Z. Overall very happy with my purchase. It did take a little getting used to since I was used to a 2012 Apex XTX (EPS) so the riding position was a little different as well. It wasn't just the model but brand that I was getting used to. On the trip to St. Germain the other day I was finally getting the confidence I was looking for and had no problem keeping up with my son in the twisties. In fact there were a couple times he would turn his head to wait for me and I was right on his tail.
Hope that answers your questions.

I would be interested to hear numbers when you can on mpg. Ya linq is sweet but that gas tank won’t be used unless you carry it for Ken or maybe 2 up.I've got my riser all the way up too.
before we would gas up in IR then again in sidnaw on our way to L'Anse. Now, I can either skip IR and head to sidnaw or top off in IR and skip sidnaw. I remember once I decided to skip sidnaw with the Apex and pulled into L'Anse with my low fuel light on. That's too close for me. On top of that with the LINQ system we ride with an extra 4 gallons of fuel on the back just in case.
Just so you know it’s exactly 25 miles from Sidnaw station to turnoff on pipeline 15 to LAnse where you head into Lanse where that nice DNR lady shook you out for trail permit. Lol I round tripped it once back to Sidnaw by myself for grins and giggles.I've got my riser all the way up too.

Hmmm? Isn't the Doo fuel caddy 3 gallons?I've got my riser all the way up too.

No, 4 gallons.Hmmm? Isn't the Doo fuel caddy 3 gallons?
Well I had it just not stuck on the side of the sled...Just so you know it’s exactly 25 miles from Sidnaw station to turnoff on pipeline 15 to LAnse where you head into Lanse where that nice DNR lady shook you out for trail permit. I thought it was hilarious when I told her to breathilze a shady character like you. She was great just laughed had a good time with us.Well I had it just not stuck on the side of the sled...![]()
Not much difference as I understand XRS has more suspension travel but no launch button and of course completely different graphics from the Mach black. It will be interesting to hear from you after smartshocks are active. I wonder what models will replace the Mach in 2023? I know they said 1 year only but if a top seller why not continue?I bought the 900 turbo R in a Reneagde XRS platform, this is my first 4 stroke sled and I was definitely apprehensive making the transition. I have been very impressed. The sled has the smart shocks option, but I am waiting on parts for that to be activated.
I am 1200 miles in at this point and excited to keep riding!
