2 to 4 inches of snow fell across the northwoods...the heavier snow went south...its wet packy snow...the wooded trails are real nice right now, and even some of the poor areas have improved....the question mark is will they hold up with warmer weather and direct sunlight by the weekend....as I said the wooded trails are great...figuring out how to stay away from the high traffic areas (which will be the first to burn down) will be the trick

not sure who's right one report has tomahawk trails listed as poor condition

I looked at that as well. If you look into the details, the report given on the WI Snowmobile Trail conditions, it was on Monday. We received the bulk of our snow Monday evening into Tuesday and they did not update. Maybe the ~4" helped improve the trails.

I'm headed to LDF tomorrow with a buddy. Hoping to find rideable conditions. If I get a chance, I'll let you know what I see tomorrow night.

All I can report on is what I've ridden on in the last couple of days which is to the West of Tomahawk and all I can say is I Hope they stay this Good!! Most everything is flat out this way with enough to lubricate the slides. We are planning on grooming this weekend as the temps look to be cold at night. We plan on keeping the trails flat for as long as we can so if we get a little snow you can still have a nice ride. Come on out and enjoy what short time we have left.

Don't listen to the negative stuff...the wooded trails, especially out in the pier willow region are great (northwest of Tomahawk)...I got called into work yesterday..but two of my friends headed out, and put 170 miles on and said the trails were very good...the 10 trails, the 12 trail, the 11 trail...all excellent...only the high traffic areas, and rail road grades were snirty in spots (though greatly improved since Monday, and very rideable as of this morning) ....it never got above 22 in LDF yesterday, and they have lowered the forecasted highs for over the weekend...I would get out and ride, as the long range forecast is calling for a warming trend (way above average by the 3rd week of march, might hit 50's)....this time of the year trail conditions can change rapidly, depending on traffic, and sunlight, and temps...but so far they are holding up nicely with the cooler temps (it was in the single digits for lows this week)....had a couple more riders stop in the bar yesterday and they said it was really nice out there...RIDE WHILE YOU CAN FOLKS

SMH...dude...have I ever steered you wrong...lol?? I would not tell you it's good out there if it sucked....there is nothing worse than trailering several hours to find crappy conditions (I did that for several years)....it's not pristine out there....but it's damn good for this time of the year (lots of snow in the woods)...just watch your speed in the corners there is some ice...typical late season riding right now....get out and enjoy it

We rode Tuesday and my husband rode yesterday (Wed) fantastic trails. We started at Swamp Lake, rode over the willow flowage to Reel Em Inn, took 5N to 10E to bearskin to Hazelhurst Pub to Merc stop and back to Swamp Lake. Great trails.

We got a couple hundred miles on today. LDF-Mercer-Butternut-Lugerville-Phillips-LDF. Lots of great riding, with only 17 around Mercer not rideable. A few spots were marginal for a bit, but mostly really good.

Ive been following this thread as Im hoping to sneak in a quick trip next week if the trails hold. Looking for the closest place to home with rideable trails and fairly centralized. Sounds like Tomahawk may be the spot. Any suggestions on where to stay? We would like something walking distance to a bar/pub and reasonably priced. On the trail or close to as well. We stayed at the Great North Saloon a few years back west of Tomahawk. Is there anything walking distance to Billy Bobs? Maybe Tomahawk has Uber of Lyft and it wouldn't matter??? Open to other locations as well just don't feel like trucking all the way to the UP for this one. Obviously this weekend will affect trail conditions so I will be sure to follow reports.

Look up Centerstone Resort. Right down the road from Billy Bobs, and is a nice place, with the trail in their parking lot.
I'm thinking about going up on Tuesday or Wednesday, if trails hold.

x2 I would say Centerstone would be your best bet if you want to be close to Billy Bobs. Wild North would be good also if you liked it there. You will find better conditions to the West and North but you can still get that way just fine from Centerstone. I groomed last night and was plowing through 3 ft. of snow drifts on the 19 corridor. Still some good riding out there if you can stay in the woods. Like always this time of year you have to put up with a little wear and tear. Nothing that a little money can't fix!
