So how accurate is this 500 year stuff anyways?.......lol.
Just alot of hype for the sky is falling crowd to glom onto and use to support their evil global warming....er I mean climate change agenda.

Most WI dams were nonexistant til 150 or so years ago....
DNR was nonexistant 50 years ago...

How accurate are native American weather/flooding records?

Lots of rain lately?....YES, but who knows if it is a 500 year record?

Looks like Summer will FINALLY move into the WI Northwoods on Monday with upper 70s and low 80s and a much dryer week or 2. Just what we need to dry out & I hope the forecast holds up. :)

Then the skeeters will out in full force with all the standing water. Was at Sunrise for breakfast memorial day weekend and they were bad even at 11am. Meet some friends in the lot on the way out and we had barely a couple minutes to talk before getting ambushed.

Yeah can be bad at times in shade and no wind but hopefully the standing water will dry up with 80s and sunny weather. Informative feature in Vilas County News with pictures of the Twin Lake dump of water into Pioneer lake. This water dump is washing out roads and culverts on it's way to flooding Pioneer lake and dam operators say no responsibility for downstream damage...lol... This seems crazy to me to not care what happens down stream with water release so I took a look at North Twin at the launch and water is higher than usual but not flooding anything that I could see. Big meeting on this next week so hopefully a compromise can help out Pioneer Lake and the Twins can store some water for later this year.

We were at the cabin on NTL from the 14-16 and then back 19-23. I would say the lake dropped a good 3-6 inches during that time, due to the dam being open as far as it was. The last 3 years have been great for lake levels, but if they keep it that far open for any longer it will be back down to the low levels this fall. While it was low we had to add two 8 foot sections of dock to get out far enough to get the boat on the lift. So much nicer when the lake is at the higher level. Definitely feel bad for the folks on Pioneer, the flow was no where near gradual with all the added rain. I heard they had opened the dam up to 20 inches. Previous years they wouldn't close the dam further to keep more water in the Twins. Luckily it looks like this weekend will be an improvement with the weather

Interesting read on the PSC and the dam permit from the 30s for a rock dam on Pioneer

I agree snobuilder. As they say, "records are made to be broken"!!! But, where was all of this moisture when we would have liked it??? I sure would like to see some of the "snow records" get broken!!! You in???

I'd sure like to see that. Only rode Vilas area one time MANY years ago. Would love to ride there again, in epic snow depth conditions! 😃👍

Each season is different up here never know what you will get until well into it. Always enough snow to ride during the week trails are usually good but not with big snow like in WUP. Clubs do surprisingly well with the snow we get conditions often surprise me in Conover, Eagle River, Three lakes, Sayner, but Phelps not so much over the past few years just not making the most of low snow conditions and the first to close trails last year. Hat off to Vilas Clubs that do so well with what they do get. :)
