When using quotations in your message(s) …
(Click on the above thumbnail image.)
This is an excellent opportunity to remind y'all (not just
Ohio Cat) of the proper technique to use with quotations:
When using quotations in a message, take care to see that both the initial
[QUOTE=user-name;nnnnnn
] and final
[/QUOTE] formatting tags in those quotations, as shown in your message text entry, remain intact, including both of the the leading '
[' and trailing '
]' square brackets — with
nothing else inserted inside those
formatting tags —
particularly if you do any editing of those quotations.
Those constructs are "commands/instructions" for the forum parsing engine to use in formatting your message. If you muck them up, as above, as reads (in part):
[/QUOTE (← missing the trailing square bracket "
]")
… the parsing engine will not recognize them, and you will get a malformed quotation — as shown above, instead of a properly formatted quotation, like this:
Met up with Polaris Dan and his son at the Mosquito today and rode the Freda; snow is on fire.
At 4 PM the temp was 33 and drizzle right now it's 25 and the blizzard has begun. Boo yah!
Riding with Dan tomorrow, should be fun.
Bear
There's been a lot of edited/screwed up quotations on the board lately!
