Here's the story:
I have an '05 600 SDI with 8300 miles. When I'm out riding (not when the sled is sitting on a stand running) the idle will often (not every time) hang at around 2500 rpm when I come to a stop. It will eventually come down, taking anywhere from 10-30 seconds to do so. I didn't have time to delve into it, so I took it to the dealer. They said my belt was too tight and adjusted it, but it has made no difference. Otherwise, runs fine.
Compression is good (145-150), Boyesen Rage Cages installed last year, no cracks in the Y-pipe that I can detect, Nord-locks on the Y-pipe bolts, clutches taken apart/cleaned/new springs this summer, plugs appear to be the right color, goes into reverse with no stalling. I tried to do a leakdown test this past summer but could not for the life of me get the intakes on the Boyesens to seal properly. I tried a variety of different plumbing appliances to no avail. I should say too, it did this in the past, prior to installing the Boyesens, but somehow healed itself.
Could this in fact be caused by a belt that is too tight? Could it be caused by dirty RAVE valves (one thing I didn't do was take them apart and clean them -- last time I did it they were so clean it was a waste of time taking them apart). Faulty TPS?
Any help and advice appreciated. I'd like to avoid another trip to the dealer if I can!
