mspease; I see from your picture that you have a vent on the muffler side. Did you put one on the clutch side too? If so did you use FROG SKIN to keep the belt dry?

I put them on both sides as they sell them in pairs. Gotta do both while you're at it. You maybe can't tell by the picture, but the vent openings have a fine cover over them and it kept most of the snow etc. out. I never had any problems getting the belt wet but I ride mostly trails.

mspease; Thanks for all your help so far. Where did you get the vents I know Marshall's Dist. sells the frogskin in bulk, but I need a source for the vents Thanks, Doug

Yep, got them from SLP. They also offer an exhaust vent that you will see on their website. There is plenty of area for the hot air to escape, so I only got the vents you see in the picture above for both sides. Haven't blown a belt since I put them on.

Congrats on your new sled! You are going to love it.
Take the advise of the previous posts and add the SLP vents. The SLPs have a fine mesh screen that does a knock-up job in the powder. I don't imagine that you will need the frogskin unless your waterskiping.
I added the vents to both my FSTs and have never had a belt blow since.
These monsters generate a lot of heat from the turbo and the torque. Vents are essential.
As far as performance...just add the vents and run the Kevlar belt. The 800 has some awesome power but the FST is going to surprise the heck out of you (and your friends)
Your going to be VERY happy
