We will have the 2014 Ski Doo 900 ACE available for Demo Rides on Monday 3/18 from 10am until 2pm. Swing into TrackSide in Eagle River on monday and see what it's all about!

Trackside-in case you happen to see this post before the demo ACE is gone, how about taking a 600-carbed or E-tech 600 out and run it along with the ACE 900 and see how they compare side by side ???

I was thinking the same think. Have to see if we can pull this off. All I can say is that this thing feels like it has over 100hp no prob. I am super impressed!

We took a studded 2013 GSX LE and ran the 900 ACE TNT against it. We did did a staggered start of almost 2 sled lengths so you can see the difference. Being studded the E-Tec took it out of the whole and slowly pulled up to around 80+ mph when we shut it down. At the end of the run we had about 8 to 10 sled lenghts difference! While it may not quite be at the 120hp class level it certainly performs much better than it's rated 90hp.

It is also much smoother and quieter than the 600 ACE. In both engine and track noise! In my opinion if you are not a trail racer that needs 150+ hp and you really want a nice trail sled the 900 ACE in any fashion should be high on your list!

Greg: Very interesting! Sounds about right or what I would expect & a good test run that puts the Ace 900 in its market niche doesn't really compete HP wise within the brand product line. Now we need to take a 2013 Viper, Nytro & Vector & run them head to head to better understand their market niche as seems a bit crowded & overlaped on paper.

Well said Whitedust. The ACE 900 is really a very broad market as it sits. A Torquey motor with good acceleration and great handling! By no means a drag racer but hey it does satisfy the lower horsepower 600 class market with the quietest ride on the snow and amaizing fuel economy.

In terms of the Yamaha overlap. I think it is only a matter of time and Yamaha will introduce new and phase out the old. I feel the new Viper will be able to fill the Nytro or Vector buyer based on it shock package. Out with the old and in with the New! The 4-stroke evolution is alive and strong!

In Sport mode! I wish the GSX was unstudded to even things out a bit.

Thanks-
Wonder if it would have been in Standard mode if it would have helped for traction on the start?

Did you check at any time to see what the fastest you had the sled going while you had it?

We did not check the top speed on the ACE but the E-Tec was per the driver at about 89mph. It really is a fun sled to drive!

Should have started head to head. The 600 e-Tec will walk away from the 900 and it also had studs. Or was the GSX a 500ss motor. You should of gave the two lenght to the 900.. I will be buying one this spring for the wife.. Have a good week Greg.. You ride!!
