96 stud patterns

Hey quick question. I am doing the track and studs for my clean snowmobile team. Is there any difference between the patterns or benefits? The three patterns I have seen is the infinity symbol down the middle, and a v shape that faces forward or backwards. We are using a hacksaw track by the way but that really doesn't matter.

more studs more rotating mass . 1 would think for a clean sled comp u would want the least amount of weight u could get. prob 36 studs max and cut every other row of lug flush with the track and poss port the thing as well with the largest rear idler wheels u could scrounge.
I really dont think stud placement in any event except shaved ice drags is really important

No real benefits in patterns, as long as you have good scratch patterns that don't overlap or repeat. You want each stud hitting the ice someplace different from the rest. Keep em inside the rails too.

Yea I know not to have them fall into the same path because that really don't do anything then. I also know it will eat up the idler wheels and can get pulled out if they aren't placed right. Ez, we might go less than that to reduce weight, but it really doesn't reduce that much, plus in our design paper we can talk about how it will add traction, stability, and better braking abilities.

96 studs is 2 per row on a 121 x 2.52" pitch track....is that the track size you have?....The 120 x 2.86" takes 84 at 2 per row.

I will try to get in contact with him because camoplast actually sponsors us and gives us tracks. Snobuilder, the rules have it as two studs per bar so im guessing its the 2.56" pitch. I don't have stuff in front of me now to look.
