I have a 1997 polaris ultra 700 triple that won't start. Started on 2 pulls last winter every time. The first time it acted up was last week. Took about 50-60 pulls. Choke on...choke off...back and forth. Finally it started...barely. Just a second of running...another pull 1.5 seconds of running...ect. Finally it held and stayed running. Drove it into the shed replaced the suspension. Went to start it and nothing. It has spark, ether doesn't help, there wasn't any fuel in the filter and the line from the tank. When i got it to start the first time the only way was to barely crack the throttle with the choke off. Once it was running it ran fine. So it doesn't even cough with ether...it has spark....no fuel in the line to the filter from the tank?????

When you removed the suspension did you lift the back of the sled up in the air with out turning the gas off ?If so then the crank case is full of fuel.If thats not the case then I would try some isopropyl alcohol in the gas to remove the water that formed over the summer and could be frozen in the fuel system.Just a couple of things to try first.

if you say there is no fuel in the lines or the filter make sure your fuel is turned on and make sure you dont have any cracked fuel lines. it sounds like the pick up tube inside of the tank has curled up and you arent getting any fuel try filling the sled up or hooking the pick up line and getting it too lay in the fuel. if you are getting fuel did you check compression?

I have a 97 600 triple. Had similar. The gas line inside the tank had broken off at the connection on the side of the tank (about half way up on tank). Sled would only run when back of sled was tilled enough to get gas to the intake on side of tank. Sled would run while on the stand, not on the ground. Took a couple hours to figure it out. 15 minutes to fix.

Thanks to everyone that replied. We rode for a couple hours tonight and I'm a happy woman.
My husband (Mr. AnnaWL, until he signs up himself) posted this thread regarding his sled. He'll thank all of you himself.

Fixed!

Crank case was full of gas. Tried to dry it out for 2.5 hours! Was just about ready to give up and did this... no choke...no ether....full throttle. Had signs finally of starting after the 5th or 6th pull. Running by the 10 pull. Turned my back and started to put tools away and then noticed 1/2 gal. of gas on the floor coming out of the exhaust! Shut it off....opened the doors....shoveled snow on the gas and started it right back up.....let it warm up and cleaned it out at 11 pm last night ripping down the street! Thank to everyone. Bye the way when we went ridding tonight it started on the first pull! Thanks again. And to Anna for being on John Dee's and John Deel
