98 Polaris - changing seat cover

I'm going to get a new seatcover for the 98 Classic that's in the stable. Removing the staples seems easy enough (but there's lots of them!) but my question is what is the best way to staple the new seat in? Staplegun or ??

Anybody ever done this and have any tips?

Haven't bought one yet either so if anybody has some good places to buy from (and who to stay away from) I'd appreciate it.

(now back to the new oil thread! LOL!)

The best is to take the new seat cover to an upholstery shop. You gotta replace every staple you took out. You'll have carpal tunnel, tennis elbow & a shoulder strain by the time you're done if you use a regular staple gun. My new seat:

Mine was custom made. I took the old cover off & gave it to the upholstery place to use as a pattern. He put the new one together, added the cross and a 1/2 of foam on top for $150.

wow if you can get it done for 150 that is what I would do.
a bud did his aggressive Chase poo this fall with a Dennis kirk cover. the cover alone was I think 115 bucks and it looked good.don't know if it was installer issues or manufacturing issues but the hump trunk part did not fit great few ripples but no big deal just not factory tight.all I know is for a extra 35 bucks I would have it built and raised for me.question is why only 1/2 in think if I was going custom I would be looking in to a good 2 to 3 in

I did my 98 Polaris last year...easy. Bought the cover off ebay for about $100. Take off old cover and staple new one on with a staple gun, and do not staple into the gas tank.

He only added a 1/2 inch because any more than that and the horizontal stiching across the seat would start to look like big round puffy pillows. While sitting on it in the garage making snowmobile noises the extra 1/2 inch feels pretty good.
