98 ZR 600 efi High idle

Working on a 98 600 ZR efi that has some issues. When started, it will jump up to 5000 plus rpm's. So, then if you shut it off and try to restart, it will barely keep itself running, and will only run on one cylinder. I have changed plugs and eliminated all of what should be the easy stuff. I know my way around sleds pretty well but this one has me stumped. All cables and so on are moving freely, fuel pressure seems fine, good spark, no loose or worn wires. Everything plugged in...............

Check the throttle body boots. They are known to crack under the clamps and can cause this exact issue!

spray carb cleaner around the carb boots and crank seal, if the idle doesn't creep any higher than it's not an air leak.
