Air box elimination

can a guy eliminate a stock air box and replace with after market filters and be certain they will not allow snow ingestion? If so, what has been some or your experiences. I am thinking some duct sort for cold air instead of sucking hot engine compartment air

k&n has pod covers that go over the pod and have elastic to hold tight to rubber boot.
like u know the biggest issue is the hot air.
I had pods on my old zr 900 /1010 had to build mount for coil and brain box was kind of a pita but had to be done to set up the way I wanted.I did not worry about the hot air that sled went 660 ft at a time and when the throttle was W.O. it was shooting icy cold nos
I had 2 have 2 diff pods and some custom rubber boot work to go around the steering post.
all that work and $$$ and the F7 made it obsolete the next yr lol

My friend put a cold air induction kit in his Yamaha SRX 700 (converted to a 144"). He got the kit from Bender Racing and it works great. With the stock air induction, it would injest some snow in the deep powder. This kit puts the air intakes behind the windshield. I'm not sure if this work work with on the 700 Mountain Max though since I'm not sure if that is the same motor as in the SRX. Here is the link:

mine right now does ingest some snow in the deep and I wanna stop that plus open up some space under the hood. I realize what mods I would need to do to rid the box and I am not concerned about that. I like the look of no air box but than again I CANNOT ingest snow

The 2 stage UNI filters or K&N with covers will not ingest snow. I have 3 sleds setup with UNI filters and run them in hood deep powder all the time. Never had a bog or frozen carbs.
