btw does (sic) stand for something?

sic (adverb)
thus; so: used within brackets, [sic], to show that a quoted passage, esp. one containing some error or something questionable, is precisely reproduced.

I suppose I should really write it (within the quoted text) in italics, and in square brackets instead of parentheses, thus: [sic] :)

I thought Cats F8 EXT is a slick option for a trail rider that occasionally goes off trail--I bet its super smooth on trail too with the extra bump bridging. Otherwise good to see cat market the Z1 a bit more with the Z1 sno pro, better gas milage and not adding oil each morning + people with not as much in the wallet as there used to be, eventually going to back off of speed and power and go for something that doesn't dent the pocket as bad.

Otherwise can't expect much new, most everything is down and everyone is laying low and weathering hard times...

Definately Renegade Backcountry.....800 etech. Great all around sled trails and deep. I haven't done the "steep" so do not really know how it would be there.....but i'm geussing it would hold it's own as production sleds go. Funny topic as i made my last payment on my sled today. Told wife it's time for a new one and pass this one on to the boy. I GOT THE LOOK!!! Maybe next yr:(.....lol

P.S. I'm sure all married males here know that look!!

Bang For Buck.

Price? This is not part of the question? Let us dream. I like a Lambourgini. frnash, did I spell that correctly?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Price

Price is part of the question. As I stated the 2011 Apex SE at $15K MSRP or the Turbo IQ LX @ $11K MSRP draws me to Turbo IQ LX as better bang for the buck. Running Bear 2 @ sleds at $30K or 2 sleds at $22K becomes a no brainer but if you can get 2010 non current Yamaha Apex LTX GT for $10K or less then that is the best bang for the buck. You have to consider non currents too.

Best bang for the buck....no brainer.....Will always ride Polaris and probably buy used cause I choke at the thought of 22k in sleds. But looking at the new ones that was my pick Turbo IQ LX has everything we're looking for. Non currents are always worth looking at but gotta be Polaris for me

It seems like Poo and Cat are falling behind with engine technology. I know Yamaha is done with 2 strokes, but they are building lighter-weight, reliable and efficient 4s. Doo is ahead of both Poo and Cat in the 2 strokes and isn't bad on the 4 strokes either. I thought Poo and Cat would have something new to offer in terms of engines this year.

Not sure about that, I know the etec's are great but poo's cfi is very efficient on oil and will get 15-16 MPG, not 20 like the doo's but not far off either.

To me it is like a chevy 5.3 v8 (20 MPG) vs ford 5.4L V8 (16 MPG, and best selling truck for 33 straight years) Both are great trucks and motors. I get why fuel efficiency is important when sleds got 5-8 MPG (in the 90's) but now that they have gotten so much better I wonder why everyone's making such a big deal about it.

These are not lawnmowers, they are supposed to go fast and most people that ride them can afford a $30 fill twice a day if need be. The Poo's seem to have diffent things about them which make them more desirable (PRO RMK - 431 lbs) and in my opinion the handling of a poo is much more consistant and less twichy if that makes any sense, but to each his own.

I currently ride a doo and love it but have ridden many poo's and love that the new PRO RMK and the Assault 144 give them something to fight with. Some real competition for the xp's, and all the competition will just bring more innovation which is a good thing.

My 1st pick would be the Apex XTX
2nd pick would be the Switchback Assault 800 ( if I was to go with a 2 stroke)

Plan on putting another 7000 miles on my Apex.

Dream Sled:

I have been checking out the new sleds, and would go with the Polaris Assult Snowcheck (orange) in the 144x1.352. Best looking Polaris ever made IMO.
