Officials are reminding outdoor enthusiasts to monitor ice conditions, after a snowmobiler broke through the ice near Tomahawk.

(WJJQ radio)According to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, that incident happened on Thursday. They said a Sheboygan Falls man left a Shorewood Circle Road residence by snowmobile and traveled out onto Lake Alice.

The sled broke through ice. The operator was able to get out of the water on his own. He was also responsible for the tow company to remove the snowmobile from the lake.

Any idea how much it costs to have a 'tow company' get a sled out of a lake?

Good question. Here in the Fox Valley we have a company that does quite a bit of business on Lake Winnebago. The costs vary from a a couple of thousand for a simple extraction to 10K+ if they need to use divers. Also the DNR will issue fines for every day it's on the bottom, so you gotta get it out right away.

Sinking sleds sounds like a sport for someone who has more $$$ than brains!

Right on Gary, we will probably see him in TV half a dozen times between now and spring 2020.
