Well fellow snowmobilers...
I just returned from a 2 day trip to the Western UP. We started our journey Monday morning at 9 AM from the Watersmeet hotel and casino. We rode West on the railroad grade towards Lake Gogebic. The grade had plenty of snow, was a hard packed, fast and flat. We then rode the trail on the east side of Lake Gogebic. Trail was also recently groomed, with a hard packed base. We then got on trail 8E. and made our way to trail 3 North all the way to Hancock Michigan where we checked in at the Ramada. This was a 3 hour, 130 mile ride. Every trail was flat, with plenty of hard packed snow, and very low traffic.after a brief stop at the Ramada, we headed up to Copper Harbor to get a late lunch at the mariner north. Once again trails were flat and snow was deep.in fact, the Brockway Mountain Trail was probably the best I've ever ridden in my 20 times of riding it over the past 25 years. Of course, the food at the mariner north was fantastic as always. We reversed our route and headed south down the Keweenaw back to the Ramada. With a 45minute lunch stop at the mariner, it was a three hour and 45 minute round-trip ride from the reamada up to the mariner north and back. Once again the trails could not of been better. In total, we rode 230 miles on Monday and we were back at the hotel to relax in their fantastic pool area and head out for an amazing pizza at the ambassador in Houghton. If you have not been to this place, you must make it a priority to visit.
On Tuesday, we headed back to Watersmeet via trail 3. We left the Ramada Inn in Hancock Michigan at 9AM. We stopped in Barriga at Claire's for lunch. The food was excellent. We were back in Watersmeet at 1:30 PM. once again, trails were fantastic and as smooth as a highway and made the 100 mile ride seem effortless.
thanks to all the groomers and clubs that do such a fantastic job of keeping the trails in excellent shape. We had a fantastic ride and look forward to doing it again one day in the future.
