Thanks for all the inputs and opinions...this is way too civil though. Maybe I should have asked which one has a better sea and snow or amsoil ap

That's what we call them here. Android a smart phone from Verizon. Way to complicated for guys like Skylar. There is a learning curve. It is a phone that does it all. I have apps on it that have snow reports, snowmobile trails, Facebook, Dictionary, Email, texting, weather, news from a dozen sources, web cam, camera that takes great pictures, calculator, calendar, alarm clock, maps, navigation, weather radars, bluetooth, timer, mp3, netflix, a bubble level, camcorder, google earth, flashlight, ebay, fox news, altitude finder, latitude finder, Gmail, AOL, emergency alerts, music, Paypal, pinball, Quick office, solitaire, Bar finder, Wikimobile, local TV, yellow pages, Youtube, trip advisor, Zedge, bar scanning for price comparisions and checking prices on unmarked products, skype, Photo gallery, compass, kindle, car docking, Pandora music and a bit more. that is a Droid. I have the Droid 2 by Verizon. My wife has the droid Revolution with 4G. We run our business from where every we are at. I can send an estimate from my office to your wireless printer. I have Internet by Wifi, phone or satelite. It is awsome. I can talk to it. Example: "Find Pizza" and it will map me about 20 Pizza places from closest to farther away and give me ratings on the pizza and address and a number to call. If it is say Pizza Hut It will place the order for me to their computer and it will be ready or delivered and I can pay for it via electronic banking or credit card. same with Hotels and other businesses. It makes me money. Droid............. I can take a picture and send it to Facebook, suppliers, the office, customers, Jdee site instantly. No taking film to get developed and then mail pictures to get to customer in 3 days. Oh and video teleconferencing, I can walk thru a job site while my customer is in Barbados or Switzerland and the can see me and their house at the same time and we can discuss their project and make changes and show progress without them having to fly home. Did I say it makes me money......... Droid...........lol

iPhone will do all of this also. I love my iPhone. My only complaint is that many of the apps are $.99 where the same ones for Android will be free. There are still thousands and thousands of free ones so don't get me wrong. Hoosier best thing to do is go in and mess around with all your choices and see what you like best.

I had a droid (original Motorola) and I have the iPhone now. IMO the droid sucked compared to the iPhone. Jailbreak it and it's pretty much as open as android...so I've been told;) It's easier to text, not as bulky, and looks cooler.

I don't know about the new droids though.

apparently not. Looks cooler???? haha. I have the actual keyboard or the option to type on screen, best of both worlds.

i can't remember, can you tether with iOS? I do know that it is carrier based, but my wife has a Virgin Mobile Phone with Android 2.2 and I can turn on tethering (for freeeeeeeee) so i can use my ipod for whatever.

My wife has a droid and I have an IPhone 4S. They both work fine. We are not super users or terribly tech oriented but they both have the personal hotspots so thats what we use for connecting our laptop, almost all the same apps are available, they basically do the same thing. I like the Iphone better for email while hers is maybe a better web browser. The one thing we do notice though is my Iphone has better battery life than her droid does. Not nearly as good as my BB had but better than the droid.

Droids do like to eat up the batteries if you have apps running in the back ground such as navigation eats it up fast, so I plug it in the cig. lighter while driving and using that app.

They are both good. Most would be happy with either. I have motorola electrafy (driod) and it works great. Very similar to 4s iphone as far as abilities. Some things are better and some worse. I have voice commands but wish it had cery the the iphone chick that answers all your questions.

I bet that phone feels like a weight in your pocket. That's what I didn't like about that droid too. Those apps running in the background is a major flaw IMO. I get at least 3 times the battery life with the iPhone. Plus the droid would take me to mobile websites and I couldn't get around them. Their tablets do the same thing. That's a major flaw.

I do not have a smart phone yet but from using friends and seeing what both can do It will be a Droid when I do.
Not sure about which phone but I think this video says most of why. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6h5JSojJN3Y and its just funny!

Also one reason I'm waiting is I refuse to pay the extra for internet when most of my time I would use WIFI which is why I can't wait for Republic Wireless to open up more spots for beta testing.

Polarice~ I know there are apps for the problem you listed. B/c a few friends have stated that they use the apps to counter act the things you mentioned.

That could be. It's been about a year since I looked at those other phones and tablets.
One year is like a century in electronic tech. My droid 2 was obsoleted a week after I brought it home, but I have fantastic signal and it is light years ahead of the nextel crap I had.

To be honest, compared to the stuff out now, the Iphone is way thicker, heavier, more easily broken(glass screen) and yet has a smaller screen.

If you are gonna compare, its gotta be apples to apples. Android phones come in many different styles, from many different manufacturers. Motorola, Samsung, HTC to name a few. All of these companies want the latest and greatest. They all compete against each other.

Apple has not updated the physical characteristics of the Iphone since it was first released. Apple has a great phone, and a huge following, and were the first smartphone. But they really dont have direct competition. They do it their way. And the others have to compete against each other while trying to wow away Iphone customers.

Have you seen an iPhone 1 compared to the 4? It doesn't sound like it based on your comment about the physical characteristics.

My iPhone is super small. I put a bumper on it and it's hit the concrete a few times and has no blemishes. Plus it doesn't add much bulk at all. The droids I've seen are huge compared to the iPhone 4.

I did just see a commercial for the droid razr and that looks pretty cool though.

Get a Droid. iPhone sucks be because of all the proprietary garbage. When you plug your droid in to your computer it is seen as an external hard drive. No need to screw around with iTunes. There is a reason that Droid phones are outselling iPhones almost 2-1 now.

One key to remember is UNLIKE THE iPHONE THE DROID IS NOT A PHONE. IT'S IS OPERATING SOFTWARE. JUST LIKE WINDOWS IS NOT A COMPUTER. That being said there are Droid phones that are better than others. I currently use a Motorola and it's junk compared to the new Samsungs and HTC's. If I were you replace my phone in the near future I would go with the Samsung Prime or the HTC Rezound.

The Rezound and the Prime beat the iPhone 4S is these categories:

-Screen - Both offer higher resolution screens than the iPhone. The amoled screen on the Samsung is amazing!
-Processor - The Rezound is 50% faster and the Prime (if it doesnt end up using the 1.5 GHZ) is 20% faster
-Connection - Both Rezound and Prime are 4G (LTE)
-Front Camera - Both have higher megapixel front cameras.
-Battery Life - Both offer larger batteries than the iPhone.
-Operating System - Personal preference but both will have Ice Cream Sandwich (Rezound will be in an update)

What carrier do you have?

I ended up going with android - Motorola Photon. Supposedly it's one of the better ones that Sprint offers. I was looking at that or the Galaxy II, and Best Buy ended up cutting the photon price in half. My wife just got an iphone also, so if I end up liking that better, I can exchange within 30 days...thanks for all the comments.
