True story. It wasn't even 10 minutes after the annoucement that all the ladies, My wife and Daughter in law to be and not sure who the rest of the girls were (probable potential brides maids) went off to get their nails done, go for a Latte and shop. Okay I can see the nails part and Latte part, but shop for what? That was thursday night. well since then this has transformed: Wife decided the couple to be are going to need nice furniture for their apartment. So out goes our couch, bed, night stand, end tables, 2 dressers, wing back chairs and a bunch of other stuff. I in return said great, more room in this house to move around. Low and behold an Art Van ad shows up in with the newspaper yesterday, I get drug there today with hangover and all to buy new stuff to fill the voids in our house that is to happen. (they don't even have an apartment yet). Well to the tune of $14,000 yes you read it right, 50 months same as cash and we pay the sales tax gimmick sucked her in. I am getting replacement stuff for the perfectly good stuff she just gave the kids. As I type she is totally rearranging the house and measuring for fitment of the new stuff which is coming this Tuesday. Oh, She also wants new carpet for our bedroom since everything will be out of it. (I am still fighting this one). Also Now instead of going up north I will be cleaning out the garage to put the giveaway stuff into it. Some how I suspect that my snowmobiling for 3 months each year and my 3 trips out west and to the UP and Canada are somehow figured into how much she spent today on furniture. I told her count this as your Birthday, Anniversary and Christmas gifts for a while and...............................she laughed.

Dude....you could have bought a new sled and then some for that amount of cabbage!

I fought the law and the law one! Next year is my plan for a new sled. She never says anything about what I do. So I give in every couple of years. To me it is a servival tactic (we have been married 31 yrs.) I got the Harley she got the Kawasaki and so on. Besides the kids need some stuff and I get a new Temper pedic bed that comes with a remote control, how sweet is that. dang thing viberates and can contort you. I never knew I needed one of these amazing beds until today. lol Heck we even got matching throw pillows, wonderfull. I am afraid who or what I throw them at. lol, gotta run and move more furniture, getting the "Look".

When my wife and I got married we didn't ask the parents for anything. We were both established with good jobs, i already had a house, etc... So we just packed up and went to jamaica and got married there. Still not sure if it is legal here in the US but 12 yrs later it works for us. We told parents they couild come down for it but they had to stay at a different resort and the only day we wanted to see them was the wedding day! Also, it was the second wedding for my wife so they were cool with it.

As parents of 2 brides in 1 year, we had 2 wonderful weddings. It started when they were young. No means NO and that is that. We provided a set amount of money for each bride and they new that was it. No fights, no whining, no asking for more. Each wedding had its own character and flavor. Our daughters said how much stress was reduced as they put together budgets and planned different areas of importance.

How about a cash bar? We had that in our wedding and no-one complained. We did have free soda and 1 barrel.

Update: I did not get to save the carpet. Carpet cleaners did a laim job cost $50 plus tip. They left, I called my buddy up the street to let him know I have an emergency carpet install job for him, needs to go in tonight, he said he will stop by. Off I go for carpet, Haul new carpet home, while gone wife decides to remove wall paper border and buy paint. Out with the carpet, save the pad. painted walls all day. everything went out the window (really, so nothing got dragged thru house). Carpet guy shows says, "hey walls are wet paint, see you at 8am. Oh get ride of the pad, I will bring new." Okay so far no wedding has occurred, may never happen, Son spent night in jail for domestic violence, him and girl friend got in a fight at a party and someone called the cops. Verbal abuse, $200 fine, night in jail, he paid for that. So my help did not show and neither did she. Looks like I have to make 2 trips to cabin with all the over load of "old" furniture. Okay as it stands: room is painted, carpet and pad out the window, new carpet still in truck, house is totally tore apart, 3 levels worth. Please Jan. 11 get here soon for snowies trip!!!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? LOL, that sucks so bad I don't even know what to say!

Polarisrider1 is clearing out the house. Just found out my 2nd oldest Cody (chevy guy) and His girlfriend Kala (snow bunny) are getting married in July. My 26 yr. old (polarisrules) finally got a real job and an apartment and has moved out last night while Mrs. Polarisrider and I were sleeping. The children are nocturnal (wifes side). And my daughter (little feather)who moved out on her 18th birthday said, "Don't worry I don't want their rooms." So let's list the house now and move on the boat before they have a chance to return was my response. Now my question is what do I pay for at my son's wedding? I am thinking a nice gift, the hall and the bar bill. looking for input.

Buy them plane tickets to Vegas and cab fare to the Little White Chapel www.alittlewhitechapel.com Definitely going to be easiest on your wallet. What ever happened to the tradition of the bride's father picking up the tab?

Her father is a whole nother story. I am heading to the cabin with most of the stuff in my truck will be burned in my firepit. Got some used Amsoil in a 5 gallon bucket to get the fire going good. Then bringing sled home for Snowies trip. Mean time the carpet goes in at 8am, and new furniture shows at noon. They can pay their own way just like I did. Maybe they will stick together a while that way. worked for me with 31 yrs. coming up. Not used to being home this much! I need to get out and ride!

My big craftsman tool box is locked solid. the house keys are next. New info. My son who spent last night in Jail for fighting with his girlfriend is not allowed to come home because the Sheriffs dept. said that his girlfriend lists my house as her residence on her license. They kissed and made up just after the fight. But because someone at the party called the sheriffs office they say they had to pick him up for her safety. She told the sheriffs office she wasn't filing any charges, they said tough, he stays clear of you and his trial date is Jan. 11th. This is turning into a saga for a made for Tv movie. Her parents said, your not coming back here. I won't toss them into the streets by anymeans. just don't need the drama. Not sure were either are tonight.

Ain't life grand, wow. I think you better leave early for that trip before something else "exciting" happens.

You're certainly handling this a lot better than I ever would. My 19 year old son's been home on break from college since the 10th of December and doesn't go back until the 8th January. Since he's been home, he's manage to sink his sled, take out the entire right front A arm assembly of his car, burn my favorite portable fish house and back into the garage door hard enough to take out the track and the two lower panels. He's also managed to take 2 nice snowmobile trips and one snowboarding trip to Spirit Mountain. Keep in mind that as far as I know, he has no legitimate source of income. I can't figure out if he's pimp'in or sell crack. Either way, I'm convince that it's time for me to change careers. I've decided that being a full time student pays way better than anything that I've worked on in the last 18 months.
