Another death

What does it take for people to get the message about drinking & riding/driving??

Feel bad for this person's family and friends, but he made a very poor choice and paid the price.

Luckily, the innocent people weren't seriously hurt.

Investigators said the snowmobile crashed into two ice shanties in the middle of the lake.

He didn't see 1st 1 & 2nd 1 either. Supposed to be 10mph near ice shanty & would not have been hurt. Speed did this one don't know about DUI.

Good point maybe would have helped visability but Paddock lake is not that big either. Just probably plain did not see them is my best guess.

I live just south of the border and used to jetski on that lake. It is small and that makes me wonder how the driver couldn't see the shanties. I highly doubt someone could maintain maximum speed for too long going across that lake. Either way, very sad situation and I hope alcohol wasn't a factor.

Did the shanties have reflectors on them?

I started with little round red reflectors on my shanty that were pretty useless. Then I stuck on pieces of reflective tape. These can be seen from an angle and quite a distance. Not only for sleds, but I've seen cars coming across the lake at nite doing X-way speeds.

*Gotta watch for tip ups also that can be spread out at a distance, esp now with 3 lines legal in MI. Good way to pees off someone*

booze = very poor judgement=excessive speed plus snails pace reaction time. I for one certainly am not anti drinking, but this just once again shows what we already know drinking and sledding DO NOT MIX! park the sleds and get drunk as sailors on leave!

Not sure why it has to be this way. I see many snowmobilers everyday and it sure seems like many forget about all responsibilities. Give em a sled and they go blind to everything around them! I have seen more sleds traveling down the sides of the highways this year than you can shake a stick at! Two 2-ups going down Hwy 70 from Elmers Fun Park to darn near St.Germai two nights ago! I am not talking in the ditch either!

Know wonder we have a bad image!!!
