ANOTHER ELCECTRICAL PROBLEM TRITON TRAILER!

Well what I'm about to explain happened once only last winter and happened today and still acting up. Its my 2008 Triton enclosed trailer, it has the mini bty for the electric breakaway switch and hauled by an 04 Avalanche. When I am driving the lights flicker when I hit a bump usually, I also think when this happens it is lightly trying to activate breaks also. The rear mounted stop light on my truck will stay on and the red light on the break controller in truck stays on too. I cant' see it being a wiring or ground problem(which obviously it's one or the other) because wiring is completly sealed in trailer and no way for crap to get in it. My little utiliy trailer that I use with the 4 way plug never acts up. What the heck could it be. Could the break controller be malfunctioning the very odd time or is the mini bty in the trailer have something to do with this, charge etc>??? I no it'll be hard to diagnose this here but hoping someone will have some things for me to check that I haven't already. Thanks.

Guaranteed your trailers ground is not as good as it should be. Follow your trailer harness back to where it either enters a junction box or the break away battery box.

Tap/jumper into the White wire, ground, and secure/screw it to a good frame ground using a cable end. 100% chance that the flicking will go away. And I bet your lights will even get brighter.

The little battery is there only for the emergency break away. Triton usually has a built in battery maintainer, but those little batteries should be replaced every 3 years max anyway.

Gotta run, but I keep an eye out incase you have additional questions. Cheers.

my bet would also be ground hook up jumper cables to your bumper and to trailer and go for a drive if no flicker then it is ground.if it is a aloy trailer it is even harder to maintain ground I have found

I found the problem. Is actually wasn't trailer. It was yet another problem with that darn truck I've got. After checking trailers wiring I found a corroded wire in the tongue that was attached to the breakaway switch, I fixed, but not the problem. The problem was when I was under truck I wiggled the back end of the 7 pin plug and lights came on and yup, bright too. I took it apart and the large pin(ground) was corroded bad. I cleaned it up and put vasaline on it and it works great. Not sure if the vasaline was a good idea but oh well. Thanks AGAIN for the help.

Just to make your day some 04 Avalanches had a recall on entire dashboard unit so if that gets flakey GM was replacing. Don't know if still the case after bailout. If makes you feel better I have 04 & so far no problems with dash.

What was going on with the dashboard unit. I've had my climate control changed among other things too but didn't know anything more about other problems with that part. I have a jerky spedometer though....
