Another Warmup Coming?

Don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but a certain Chicago forecaster is predicting much warmer temperatures for the second half of February. If you're like me and have a President's day trip in mind, you might want to get out before that weekend.

If this post is against the rules, I apologize.

It's only against the rules to the extent that you saw fit to post this negativity in a year that has been free beer night "full" of negativity.

I don't see anything that would lead to that. I'll stay with Johns forecast, as he is my go to guy!!!

I hope it warms up and stays warm. There is a lot more to do and more fun in the UP in the nonsnow months.

Guess I better cancel my snowmobiling trip to Chicago. Gonna miss that Joliet loop.

Of course another warm-up is coming - it always does - that’s why you have to get out there and ride while it’s good!! If you don’t, you can’t bitch about the forecast, nor the riding conditions, or what ever excuse you can come up with.

Kip just called and said your new SXS is in, the oil is due to be changed in the old one. You best get that traded in young Man.

Lol. I do need to change the fluids in it. Only 1300 miles on it, I'll keep it for another season i guess. Well, unless Yamaha puts that new 850 in the Viking. :)

He still has this in the extended forecast:

11-16 DAY FORECAST:

The upper air pattern in this time frame still sees the jetstream to be in out of the NW, which would cause temps across the Midwest to run below average and also bring in some clipper systems, that would bring chances for light to moderate snows every few days. The pattern would also be favorable for lake effect snows.

But Lake Superior is over 55% iced over now, so we are going to need some storms to keep conditions good.

I like this theory of keeping the UTV a while and have strangely held on to mine too.
I get new sleds each year but have kept my 900 Ranger with Boss plow since I got it in 2015 (2.5 years is a long time for me) and plan to keep it a few more years until Polaris comes out with an automotive style transmission (hate the belt lag on Polaris UTV/ATV's).
Why do I keep the UTV? Almost zero maintenance and I am still on the same belt plowing (in Green Bay, WI) over 2.5 winters. Plus I don't have to worry about getting stranded in 10 below weather.
They hold their value steadily.

If you could actually read, my post was saying to get out and ride while you can--because there is a forecast for THE SECOND half of February. There are 28 days in February, so the second half hasn't started yet, Farmer Brown. I was actually encouraging people to get out and ride. Back to the one room schoolhouse for you.

I don't want to here it!!! But if your going to ride down here, you had better do it today or tomorrow!!! This is the best we've had for snow in a long time.
