Anyone else a little concerned about the forecast next week??

For those of us who don't live up there and are only making one trip up this winter, it's a major deal. I feel for the guy above who has someone coming in from Florida.

I rode from St. Germain, Eagle River, Minocqua and Sayner yesterday and I have to say the trails were as good as I have ever seen them, Freshly groomed. We were first tracks on most of them. But a few days of 40 will hurt that's for sure.

I'm just as concerned! I'm suppose to come up to Houghton next Saturday the 21st for the week. I told my buddy this morning the trip is on hold. I wanna see what happens with the weather next week. Looks to be a last minute decision.

I hear ya! We're due to leave for a week up there and my mind is rolling with the forecasts thru next week. We're going and will deal with it what ever it will be. Wis finally got some wide spread good snow, and doesn't look as if it will last long??? Sucks!!!

Guess I'll take a weekend off from riding, and come back up after the thaw. Probs should spend a weekend at home with my wife eh? Lol.

I'm planning to head up Friday the 20th for 4 nights. Been thinking about staying home, but realized 1/2 of the fun of a trip is seeing everyone in the UP so I figure I'll head up Friday and if the trails go bad and it's raining I'll just come home late Sunday or Monday sometime. I'll still drop in the Bug, maybe hook up with a few guys from the site, see both Chad and Kip and probably watch the NFL Championship weekend games some place. Even without much riding that sounds like a great weekend to me!

If any of you are up there shoot me a PM and we'll get together!

Live in N. IL. as well and really considering selling sleds. Seems year after year around here gets worse.

Obviously I'm down the road 60 miles or so from you 79txl. I sold everything a year ago, only to pick a sled back up this spring. I keep it in the UP and only ride it there. I haven't ridden in IL for at least 6 years, and probably 4 years for WI. Now I'm down to 2-4 trips a year, and can almost always ride every time I've planned to go.

The U.P. will survive the thaw, I was up there last week and the riding was some of the best I have seen in years. Mind you I was riding off trail, but the trails were good as well.

Everyone around me is concerned but I don't pay attention to weather past 3 days out and I already have 700 miles on this year so I am happy , we still have more time

Let's not get all doom and gloom on this fellas. We all agree that Wisco will take a hit, UP will be fine. Thinking you can sled in IL is a joke, not unless you like riding grass. Anyone that owns sleds in IL and doesn't have a trailer is set up for failure (nice rhym) still have plenty of winter left, I'll stick with the above that note this is just a standard mid January thaw and once done, winter will return. I also like the idea that Superior isn't frozen over so our snow machine is still kicking! Get out there and ride, if any of you are up in the UP Feb 8-12, we'll be a group of 8. Importing a friend from Arizona and one from Oklahoma, doing my part to support the UP business's and introducing a rookie to this fine sport!

I am keeping fingers Crossed tight-ER-WI 1/26-/28-Buddy flying in from Florida and rental sleds reserved. WD what say you?

Rode RT from Phelps to Lanse yesterday and tons of snow in UP and Vilas. Some traffic but not terrible more in UP. I was hip deep in Phelps FRs marking a hazzard with flags & was very deep Wendesday much more manageable Friday. All trails were groomed and plenty of snow. To me the warm weather gear comes out next week and I'm riding probably be nice after -22F Friday. My only concern is iceberg snow but will soften up if in mid 30s. IDK about the rest of you but I intend to ride Vilas and the UP until I can't but until then it is a go. :)

Read NWS forecast discussion this morning and they talked as if the warm up was going to last through the end of the month. Maybe even a few rain events to boot. We'll have to hope the last 8 weeks of winter will be better.

This is just setting up for the epic February that is headed our direction. Hopefully the epic starts around Jan 30 as we are headed up Feb 4/5 for a week. Don't know where we are headed yet, just going to follow the snow as we do every year and start where it snowing the hardest.
