Byron was too far away & Lee fought against the windmills So they said screw you but the state got in the mess and they received some tax moneys ..

Yea too far away from Byron to get anything from the nuke plant forsure, I thought you meant there was a nuke plant there(or was there and it's no longer running). The local community should get benefits from the windfarm no matter what if it's there.

Now back to the 1st post ..Are you thinking about moving near some?? Look deep on resale value of the home .. Homes in Lee IL .. droped in value .. As far as health concerns go .. I know there have been studies in CA. But moved away before it became a factor .

Yes, I am looking at a piece of property that may end up being right next to 100+ windmills. They would be aprox 0.6 miles away.
Just trying to do my homework. Thanks guys!

I was kinda for wind power but if it does not effect local then why would you. Except landowners where tower is located to which i can see where it would start arguments between family and friends.
Nytro told me the nuke plant affected the local school and other things in Byron but now at the end of its life. Like the casinos around wi,mn,mi alot of them help the local schools, road construction and other things. Oh my second meter was off before i bought house.

Keep it local, stop being so greedy!

Mn casino help local schools???NOT... they keep that money right on the indian res.....yes they help the indian res and schools but not the local economy!!!!not one penny.......

I guess i can only speak for a few WI casinos, i know they help schools out, I have poured alot of concrete through reservations last 5 years so its helping my local economy out a little.

Regardless if its a windfarm, nuke/coal fire plant, or casinos they should help local economy first.

I always thought a good place for a wind farm would in the white pine copper mine tailings property. I think there was a study on it awhile back, but not enough sustained winds, unless that is a rumor.

Well, there is my neighbor....He's kind of a one man windfarm, but maybe more of a windbag.

Personally I find them somewhat fascinating, although a ceiling fan holds my attention longer than it should.

I don't know if they have been around long enough to allow documentation any proven side effects. Early on, theories seem to abound on all these things: High KW power lines, the ELF system for navy sub communication, the list goes on. Eventually the hoopla seems to die down.

I suppose anything that produces low level energy fields could have some effect on humans and animals but we're bombarded by multiple forms of radiation and emitters every day so how do you know? Took a trail ride by the Prairie Island nuke power plant last week. Not sure what their waste storage situation is but didn't feel anything unusual. I did notice that my sled glows in the dark now.

Where I live is 95% flat farm land. You can see the windmills from 5miles away. Like one farm said to me, I farm the land, why not farm the wind and or sun. Farmers are just trying to make a living too.
There are two big Solar farms within 20miles of us also. But ya, no price break of elec.
