So, after having 2 strokes for over 30 years, (cat, polaris, and skido) and almost giving up on sledding (after the cold year last year) purchased used a 2013 ac 1100 xp cross tour that got my excitement going again, along with a new 509 lightweight helmet and fan goggles. I get the sled and ride it around home and battery goes dead, purchased new battery, same thing, ( not sure why no pull start), take to dealer says " everything checks out cleaned fuses". Take home battery dies. They have sled for 2 weeks and finally find out that stator does not put out at low rpm only high rpm ???? Worse off mid feb before they can get part from ac. Does this sound right and if so is the stator on these a problem, (back ordered that long makes me wonder) and what would this typically cost to have done at a licensed ac dealer.

Good to Know. I was debating to dump this sled and get out of it. I Have read many good things about it but don't have the time to be fixin things like I used to, plus the machines are way more complicated than my skills. Thanks Ezra, I always can count on the JDr's to steer me right.

Check around - there have been guys on here with bad stator's on Cat's. Ezra's a Cat guy, so biased. If you got electrical problems on a sled (Cat), I'd cut my losses and dump it, faster than you can say "my C!# sucks".

I had a mid 90's Cat with bad stator and it was an arm and leg to replace it. Headlight always dim, and took forever for dealer to find it/admit it.

Cat definitely had big stator problems in the mid to late 90's, so much so that quite a few businesses started up rewinding them. However, I have not heard of any particular problems since then, and have owned 4 sleds with the 1100 motor in them with 0 stator problems. (plenty of other problems tho)

its not only cat, my buddies 2013 800etec just blew his stater with less than 1700 miles, he purchased a 3 year warranty so he's good to go. Since we were in the UP he had to rent a sled so the cost was pretty much eaten up anyway.

Just got the thing fixed. Over $1000.00 and 2 months time to get part. Now season is over and don't even get to make sure it works. These new sleds better be worth the wait......
