This sled claims to have 163+ hp?
I see that it has 2 plugs per head a 2 stroke twin 4 spark plugs 163+ hp?
How can you get that much hp out of a stock 800?

I would ask this question to the Suzuki engineers. It got to be true or someone would be sueing the **** out of Arctic Cat, that would be Ski-Doo. Make sure to brush up on your Japanese.

they did allot of things the racers have been doing to the 800 for yrs. for 2010they cut over 1/2 of the weight off the crank buy cutting a ton off the pork chops then using hollow crank light crank less resistance faster revs.Hooper has been doing the crank lighting thing for some time now with great success and cat knew it worked and used it.there is not a lot of porting left on the table with the new 800.the old 800 left at least 10hp on the table and the 700 left close to 17 with quality porting.you could get 160 out of the old700 for under 700bucks and a few connections.so not to hard for oem with deep pockets and a will to win to get 163 out of a 800. they are at the races every week and know what works what is durable and who is winning.they are 91octane only so you know they have the timing maxed out with some heavy squish.

Cat does not advertise the 162 - 163 HP, the magazines report that from independent testers.

The engine is truely strong.

As to the tripple question, it won't fit in the chassic & there is no reason to build one other than perhaps that they may vibrate less. More cylinders means more cost to build.

And for the 1000 question, Cat has reduced engine choices in both 2009 & 2010. Notice no F6/F6LXR, only a snow pro. They want you to choose a 4 stroke. Same is true for 2010, no F1000. Buy the turbo 4 stroke. The 1000 was only available in the CFR & M series. I believe the 1000 will stay in the M series because big CC equal torgue at high elevations where the 800 will begin to suffocate.

Cat (and all manufacturers) have emissions targets they need to meet. They are a corporate average. More 4 strokes (or E-Tec or DFI 2 strokes) equal a lower corporate average. Next big hurdle is 2012 model year.

2 spark plugs per cyl are not new either, I had a couple of old cats that did that also. More efective burn out of it.

I remenber when Nissan did this with some of theri 4 bangers. A lot of motorcycles use this too. For sure Honda (have a Shadow now with this) and also the Kawasaki's.

Its definitely a powerful motor, and seems to get stronger and stronger after you get 300 miles or so on it. Most M's and CF"s dyno at 157-159 hp, all the F's are getting the 160+ with a different exhaust and mapping.

It would be nice to see a 1000 HO, but I just don't think that will happen especially since it took about 3 years to get the mapping "Decent" on the current 1000 motors. I think we have a better chance of seeing a 4 stroke turbo in an M-Series Chassis.

i think the 4 stroke turbo in the M chassis would be a good idea too, plenty of power for high altitude riding and wont lose power because of the turbo but i think the weight of the four stroke wouldnt help things
