Cat does not advertise the 162 - 163 HP, the magazines report that from independent testers.
The engine is truely strong.
As to the tripple question, it won't fit in the chassic & there is no reason to build one other than perhaps that they may vibrate less. More cylinders means more cost to build.
And for the 1000 question, Cat has reduced engine choices in both 2009 & 2010. Notice no F6/F6LXR, only a snow pro. They want you to choose a 4 stroke. Same is true for 2010, no F1000. Buy the turbo 4 stroke. The 1000 was only available in the CFR & M series. I believe the 1000 will stay in the M series because big CC equal torgue at high elevations where the 800 will begin to suffocate.
Cat (and all manufacturers) have emissions targets they need to meet. They are a corporate average. More 4 strokes (or E-Tec or DFI 2 strokes) equal a lower corporate average. Next big hurdle is 2012 model year.
