ATV Sticker Shock $35...True or False????

Just heard that Michigan ATV permit is supposed to be going to $35 with the blessings of the MI-TRALE
group. I was wondering how much the permit fee will be for the horse trails now that MI-TRALE has
broadened it's interest to include equestrian use....it wouldn't really be ethical for our ATV motorized
permits to be used to provide non-motorized trail improvements and bridges etc without the horses
being registered users as well. Anybody have any opinions or information on the subject? Is this
just a rumor or is there some truth???

Sticker fees will increase next year to 26.25 or 36.25 and it hasn't been raised since 1996. This fee increase certainly wasn't MI-TRALES doing alone, it was all ORV groups in Michigan. Yes they support it because they need the funds for the 280 miles of DNR ORV trails they take care of. This extra money will only go to DNR funded ORV trails. Heck MI-TRALE put 12,000 of DNR grant money into the Pioneer trail, trail 13 out of Bergland heading to Rockland this year

MI-TRALE has always been a multi use trails club The equestrian trails have nothing to do with ORV trails no DNR funds will be used on them

Thanks for the input. Now is it $26.25 or $36.25 and when will it be decided? I also heard that an orv permit may be required even if you only go on your own private land...
true or false? What about a farm use atv, do you know if that is exempt? How does MI-TRALE coordinate with the snomo clubs? Aren't some of the trails maintained by the
snomo clubs?

From the MI DNR website = Starting April 1 2014 $26.25 for non-trail use $36.25 for trail use. Lots of info to read all about it on there.

I mean really if on a farm or vast private land why buy a permit $26.25? I would tell DNR to get the heck off my land trespassing. That to me is like buying a permit for my lawn tractor never going to happen.lol

Individuals riding in places other than private property will pay $26.25 annually. Riders wishing to use state designated trails will pay an additional $10 annually. this is where the 36.25 comes from

Yes we share most of the designated trails with the snomo clubs. Just within the last year or so MI-TRALE really started working side by side with the snomo clubs we share trails with, we have reciprocal memberships with several of them too, we look at problems with each other and try to make sure we aren't applying for the same projects, but if a project needs us both we can both apply. The OVR program and Snomo program are 2 different programs and are funded differently. with this increase the trails should really be in great shape, the work done on the pioneer/trail 13 should really make a difference for the snowmobilers as well as the OVR's and this was done with limited funds

Let me get the verbage correct. You get a title, a registration, a license, and a trail permit?????? then you can ride in MI off private property? I am out of the side by side idea if that is the case???? $25,000 grand for one of these toys with the cool stuff added. Insane.

That is what I understand for Atvs when using public trails. Insane?....... Don't think so we spend big bucks on Snomo equipment, sleds, trucks, trailers then buy a $45 MI trail permit. What is the difference can't have state trails for free & you were very supportive of the MI $45 snomo season trail permit. To me a discounted 3 day MI snomo trail permit should be offered to expand the MI market as many did not use MI /WI border trails & they thought $45 was too much for a breif MI ride. In my group I know 5 people that stayed in WI last year would not spend the $45 for MI. This year I'm riding with buds that will buy both WI & MI Trail permits & the trips are aready planned just need snow! :)
