I have the lightening pack, very lightweight and well designed. I won't ride without it as it helps keep my shoulders back, provides better posture. Plus, the couple that sells them are fantastic, true supporters of the sport. Met them at the Mpls snow show a couple years ago...absolutely great people.

I've had my HMK going on 3 seasons now. Great pack with plenty of room for storage. Only complaint I have are the two small velcro straps that are meant to hold the shovel shaft. I've had it dislodge twice from the pack when it clipped branches. I keep it in the pack now, and still have room for everything I carry.

The klim nap pac is a quality pack at a reasonable price. Its a tad smaller than a lot of them, but works well and has an insulated mouth piece for the bladder. Not sure why you would want to wear one if your not riding out west, or are you? I find them to be bulky and restrictive but wear it out of necessity. I need my life safety gear, shovel and probe on my body incase of being seperated from sled in an avalanch. The only reason I wear it in the U.P. is because its already packed. If I only rode the U.P. I would pack everything on the sled and carry less weight on my worn out back. Mine ways in at 14 pounds fully loaded and it starts to get old by the end of the day. But, to each his own--eh? Also will add be sure to get one with a waist buckel AND a chest buckel. Makes a huge difference in comfort and keeping the pack from bouncing around!!
