… as every experienced sledhead knows... you need 100% of your abilities 100% of the time

So sorry to hear of this sad accident. However, I agree wit' da moose, and that surely would apply to snowmobiling as well as flying, and I would recommend the aviator's guidelines in FAR 91.17 as a minimum: "Eight hours from bottle to throttle".

My thoughts go out to the family and friends - and the rest of you that want to rush to judgement, wait for the toxicology to come back. It is not illegal to drink and drive - it is illegal to be drunk (over 0.08) and drive.

God bless him and his family,,,my advice save your comments for another day

Well put rocketman, I've come to realize I should have just sent a card instead of starting this thread. Thanks to all the well wishers for the family, and loved ones left behind.

sounds like someone who was drunk or had terribly poor SOBER judgement went and strung an unmarked cable on or near a known snowmobile trail...HOW irresponsible can you be!!????
Knowing how many severe accidents have been caused by unmarked cables,i would NEVER string one anywhere near a known snowmobile trail.

This type a braisen act is on par with someone knowingly removing signage from a snowmobile trail.

Wasn't near the snowmobile trail, it was across the highway from the trail, cable blocked a county storage lot. There's really no need to point fingers at anything, it was a freak accident.
