bad buzz for me today
fishing cabel today had the 5 foot flex drill bits out
well was drilling in a cabinet to fish to the basment had the bit bent drilling and holding the bit mid way down the shaft
well then the bit broke in half and the 1/8 steel shaft enterd my hand palm side about 1 in below the middel finger and made its exit in finger next to pinky about 1/2 in up the shaft out the side .
the worst part next to pulling it out was the docter injecting sailen in to it and sweling my fingers and hand to 2 times there size lucky it was my left
i expect the vicoden is not going to help the throbbing when trying to sleep
more thanks to china for quality tools shipped out to the workers of the world

Sorry to hear. I have to agree that the drill bits we use now compared to many years ago are crap. They seem to snap like toothpicks. If I remember correctly from past threads, you know how to medicate yourself to deal with the pain.

next time put a 3 or 4 inch piece of pvc pipe thats is a little bit bigger than the drill bit over the drill bit and use that as a grip in the middle of the drill bit. sorry for your injury and hope you recover quick

yeah i know i should have somthing holding the shaft i had the steel 90 deg handel in the truck only used it a hand full of times
have never had one of these things snap and have drilled and fished a ton of wire over the yrs
you can bet i will always use somthing other than my hand to hold the bits from now on
worst part i was there replacing a mixer valve and the cabel guy was there instaling cabel and told the home owner he could not get the cabel where she wanted so she asked me if i could do it so i said ok
so i blame thecabel guy for being lazy and green line for having ther bits made in china
it could not be my falt i am perfect lol

small remodel contractor mostly baths and kitchens also do a ton of handy man work last few yrs the handy man side has made way more money than the remodel side
so i have a lot of hats if u go to remodel a small bath and have to hire a plumber to sweat a valve and hook up a faucet and head a electrition to install a light fixture and gfi you would get less than 1/3 the jobs
90% of people dont want a permit any way they all know it is nothing more than a invite to be taxed higher any way

Ouch, dude your license cover plumbing and electrical?? I am not even allowed to remove switch plate covers or pull toilets in MI under my Maintainance and Residential builders license. I would take the 5th on this one. Do you know that the customer does not have to pay you if the job is over $600 and you do not have proper licensing in the correct fields.

all the big jobs with paper pulled get all the lic subs in .but when doing a say ww2 rambler face lift bath the owner usualy just wont have the cash or want to pay the cash to have a plumber come in for two 1/2 day jobs to install a mixer then come back to hook up a faucet and toilet
then pay a sparky a service call to install a light bar then have the tax man knocking on the door 3 days after the job is inspected
7/8 of people ask cant we just get this done with out the city involved?
and if I have worked for them before I will usualy just go with it
worst case sennerio is run it thrugh the handy man biz where we can install swap a light fix a shower valve swap a toilet etc etc just not on the same day same room and i think in mn it is 900 bucks
