Who has attended? I am looking for a new hobby ever since the explosion at the micro brew I owned. Ya never know what may take off. Thinking of openning a barbecue store. All things grilling and smoking meat related. Stock like 10,000 bbq sauces and everything imaginable that relates. Put iin a strip mall or in resort high traffic area. Opinions? I sell sizzle not steak. What's. Your take on this?

Local guy over here started a store like this and it seems to be working, store been here few years now. He has all kinds of grills, accessories, patio stuff, cooking demonstrations "my buddy does the seafood demo's on the green egg grill for him", and even kegorators.
www.backyardbbqstore.com website does not show everthing he has in store

I wanted to attend a BBQ U until I saw the price. YIKES!! Pretty much put a clinker in that fire. Check out these two sites, Smoke-N-Fire.com and The Smoke Ring.com
Tons of stuff there. I would think that if you had the ultimate BBQ store you would need have a web site to support it as I don't beleive there are that many BBQ/grill savy guys or ladies in any one area that would spend money on a quality smoker or quality spices, sauces etc.
What ever you do, try and find/sell a quality wire brush for grill grates, one that doesn't fold over and go to heck after about 5 uses. Also maybe sell a wide variety of smoking woods, , it's kinda hard to find wood like alder or peach wood or other "non-mainstream" smoking woods.
Good luck, sounds like a fun venture.

Never checked into the price, but grilling pork butt ain't always cheap! lol. I would need to hire some total BBQ fanatics to make it work. I am at the BBQ poser level. What ever happened to the good grill brushes anyways. I got one with my grill that is plastic???? *** is that all about. Bought a brass wired looking one and they are junk also. The dollar store used to have good wire brushes but that business went to China with the rest.

If I'm not mistaken the price to attend BBQ-U was something like 2K which did not include your room at the swanky place it was being held (somewhere out west a couple years ago) plus your travel expenses.
So far the best grill brush I've had to date is one that my wife go for me. She manages a local restaurant and through US Foods she got me this killer grill brush. It has a 2 foot wooden handle, bigger diameter than most brooms handles, and the head of it was wood as well, about 2" X 6 or 7" with STEEL bristles! Also had a scraper on the opposite side which was pretty good but could use some improvement. I've had that bad boy about 5 years now and it's still going.

Hey Exyooper, nice job on the smoker!! So when the little piggy isn't in there do you have racks that you can install on the rotiseri so now you would have a couple racks that would rotate around?

Funny you would say that T. I am working on them. Four racks should fit nicely in there. Then we can cook a whole bunch of stuff all at once.

Absolutely! The beuty of the rotating racks is that whatever your cooking isn't stuck in one heat zone. Hmmm, ribs, pork butt, beef ribs, chicken, all at one time, , , , I can taste it now.
