Hows the terrain in Bayfield? I remember visiting relatives in Red Cliff, and vaguely remember there being some elevation.

Very Nice! Haven't ridden that area a lot but have ridden from Bayfield north, then down to Brule, Hayward, and over to Clam Lake. Excellent ride. Maybe I should re-think my riding options.

Stopped and saw a friend in Grand Rapids, MN this weekend and he bought the exact same sled you have. Sharp!

Stumbled on the Valhalla, Barrons, forest Rds in the middle 80's. We were on a several day ride & staying in Ashland--the area looked interesting, took the trail West to Ino & then North. Have been making 3-4 trips every winter since .The area was very popular in the 80's, 90's & early 2000. Chuck's C Side was very popular, always very crowded, as well as the pitstops in Corny, Herbster, & Port Wing. Somehow the area lost it's appeal. I ride mainly forest roads, occasionally riding in to Corny or Herbster for fuel/food. Pub & Grub is a very popular pit stop-very good food, & fuel. Doug is taking a real interest in the trails and promoting the area. Rode there this past weekend, met a few sleds Sat, none on Sunday. Woodside, that must have your group at the parking lot on Star Route Rd. We took theksingle track out of the lot.

Thanks Mark for the great report. I had a blast riding with you and Gordon as well as others in our ever changing group. Hope to get over to your area once again mrsrunningbear.

Yes 90's, that was us. Actually all the trailers/vehicles parked at Butterfield were from our cottages.

It interesting to note how many riders and others in this thread have been up here over the years and truly appreciate what the area has to offer. IMO, the Bayfield/Valhalla area is the best ride in Northern Wisconsin.

Don't hesitate to give me a shout for updates on the conditions. **** and I would be happy to ride with folks. We really enjoy that and it gives us the chance to meet a lot of great people.

Have a Merry Christmas!

I have a rental house on Lake Nebagamon which is convenient to Brule, Washburn, Superior, Hayward, etc. Less than 10 trail miles from my place and you are riding North of 2. Email me lakenebagamonwisconsin@yahoo.com if you are interested and I'll send the VRBO link.
