About an hour one way. No time today but maybe tomorrow I'll go on scouting. Pretty sure there's plenty of snow on the FRs as we have 8in in superior and they usually get twice we do. Will report if someone else doesn't chime in first.

Where is a good place to stay? Looking for reasonable with food/bar nearby. Thanks!

Iron river is a good place to stay. Hotel with several bars within a few blocks. There's about 10 - 12in on the ground, good early season riding imo.

Group of seven of rode out of Woodside Cottages of Bayfield Friday and today. Check with Jonathan and Laura at 715-779-5600 for lodging and current conditions..

Rode only FR's and old logging roads which had a foot of powder on average. Just 8" on the north end of BattleAxe Rd. junction with TR 3 north east of Iron River and then up to 14" just a few miles southwest of Valhalla.

We packed down most of the FR's in the Valhalla area and only saw two sleds today. So we basically had the whole area to ourselves the past two days.

The trails are being panned and there will be a minimal base on most of the trails, Some trails west of Bayfield (#1, #31)) need to freeze in the boggy areas and most need about 6-8" of wet heavy snow. Maybe later this week. IMG_2992.JPG IMG_2988.JPG IMG_2983.JPG IMG_3002.JPG

The FR's are used by local hunters. This Fall was very wet thus ruts occur and stay when it freezes. Another 6" or so and they will fill in. Maybe later this week:eagerness:

Sounds good hoping for more white gold as well! I did see that Randy and Woody have both been out at least rolling so that is a good sign as well.
