200 miles on the belt and it exploded. thought i blew the motor until i opened the hood. started to put the spare on and noticed that the secondary moves in and out atleast an inch. 97 zrt600 with 3600 miles never had clutch work done. is there a bearing that failed? with the belt on it move very little.

First of all if you are calling what you are showing in the pictures an "inch". You might want to look at a ruler.....not even close. But on the other hand it does look like your secondary might be "floating" a little more than it should. Did this cause your belt to fail????? Probably not......you may have gotten a hold of a bad belt. But I would have some one check your alingment and put 1 maybe 2 more shims on the jack shaft to keep the clutch more true. You DO want some float but yours does look excessive.

did you break the belt in or just put it in and giver ****?but deff after 3600mi you should align the clutches but that much float in the 2nd is fine and may be needed if clutches ar off buy a ways
