I normially wouldn't post such a thing but if you haven't seen it on the news Southwest Lower Mi and Northern Indiana is in some pretty good trouble right now. Dams are holding up but are running at capacity and everyone down steam that hasn't been evacuated have been put on notice to be prepaired. Berrien springs has a lot of evacuated people that have been relocated to the Fair Grounds and school system for temporary housing. ALOT of these people are people who help with the trail system in our area. If anyone sees fit they can call the red-cross, Berrien county fair ground (bcyf.org), Berrien spring school system, or Neighbor to neighbor (non profit in Berrien springs). These people are in need of non perishable food and cloths. Our comunitee just like many out there are coming together to help out all we can and are organizing some meals as we speek. I am sure water if going to be down within a day or two but the devistaion for a lot of these people is going to last much longer. Prayers are always welcome and needed. Thank you for reading and if this is not appropriate for your site John go ahead and delete.

I am not going to post any phone numbers or links only for the fact I don't want to appear that I am asking for money. If anyone wants to donate anything to any of these a quick intenet search will find them. Thank you.

Doug

(snows gone fast down there and the 60 plus inchs we received in the last couple days unfortianitly came down as rain so that 5 or 6 inches on top of the two foot of snow that all went away in a matter of hours is hurting us bad)

Just two things, and this is all I have to say here:

  1. I think this post is entirely appropriate!
  2. Best wishes for a rapid recovery to those affected, with as little loss as possible!

Thank you frnash. Was a late night last night, after work headed up to do what I can do. Neighbor to Neighbor and our local Methodis church who runs a food bank says we are doing pretty good. Red Cross has set up at the school to allow those who are temporay housed there to be separated from the school so school can resume today. As of right now they are at limbo until the water receades which hopefully will start today/tomorrow. Next week it is going to be a mad house down here trying to clean up and re-locate those that need re-located. Haven't seen this much water or flooding in our area since the late 80's and even then it wasn't that bad. No know life lost which is a great thing. Property damage is going to be wide spread for sure. There are some drone footage on you tube I have seen, Berrien Springs Dam....Niles MI....Goshen IN...South Bend Flood... are all things you can look up to see pics and videos if you want. The river crest numbers were across the board at least a foot higher then all time record.
