Best place to eat in Eagle River

My wife and I will be riding in Eagle River this weekend so I am looking for suggestions for a good place for supper. Could be a good burger or up to fine dining. I am surprised at the number of poor reviews for the local establishments, just looking to steer clear of the bad ones and get some thoughts on the good places.

WI or MI?

LOL...Really?...How many dining establishments exist in E.R., MI?

There is probly another Green Bay somewhere too....LOL

Ate there once right next to the ice castle at a family restaurant....good service and food but nothing special.

I can help. Just one in ER MI and it is closed in the winter, but when open I will put it up against ANY place in ER WI. :)

Hey, it was 6:30 in the morning, I was on about 3 hours of sleep and thinking of places in the UP... after a while I realized it was a stupid question

Have to agree this is one of the best, but too many good places to narrow it down to one.

Depends on what you want....
For fine dining, a bit more upscale - Riverstone
For fish fry - Honey Bear

There's also a family dining place on the west end of town, right on 45 and Main Street, I think it's run by Greeks, so you get a lot of food for the money and pretty good.

Let's see Subway or Riverstone there is a contrast for ya...lol Riverstone very much up scale as fusion said don't go there if not going to drop at least $50 per meal then you have tip on top of that. Not worth it at all just overpriced food & then push high price wine at ya. I guess if you like wine it would be a good place for dinner but will cost ya.

WD, I'm kind of into fine dining, and I think Riverstone does very well in food prep and quality. Yes it's expensive, but some people are willing to pay more money for above average food. I think River qualifies, but understand this is personal preference. I usually NEVER order wine at restaurants as I am a collector with wine cellar and the whole nine, so I know what they should sell for and won't pay their 50- 100% markup. I did spend $150 on wine at River Lane Inn Brown Deer, but that was special occasion in Nov.

I know some people don't like to pay for ambience and higher perceived quality, I get that. If you don't want that, there's literally dozens of places around ER for comparable quality burgers and steaks at bar/pubs. Some of those crowds get loud, boisterous and obnoxious so you have to put up with some of that too!

Highhertel, I thought EWR used to be the best for all you can eat walleye, but something has happened there in the last 5 years and I personally think their quality has gone down a bit. I quit going there, even though I love walleye and it's only 6 minute drive from the cabin. I can buy my own walleye from Art's Wild Rice for $8.95/lb. on the west end of town (on HWY 70), and make a far better meal.

Lief's has a good breakfast. Riverstone is nice for dinner. The place across the river from it is good too. Had a good meal at Chanticleer too.

Riverstone is great but be realistic to what it really is......an upscale atmosphere with an a la carte menu. Great food, high end liquor and extensive wine list. My wife and I had our wedding rehearsal dinner there and it was superb.

Honey Bear west of town has the best fish and AWESOME Bloody Marys!

Eagle Waters Resort also has great food and is rich in Northwoods Décor.

Lief's for breakfast for sure. Across from the track, just south of Trackside. Excellent breakfast!

Only if it was the last place in the northwoods to get a piece of stale bread, nothing like when Jill and Eric owned it!

For the best Lanny's north of Conover on 45, I had ONE bad meal in all the years going there. Bad, by I mean not up to Lanny's standard. Other places would call it a OK steak.

Golden Pines in St Germain. Try to get the bartender to laugh! Great food. Neat up north SUPPER CLUB!

For Mexican, go to the new Victor's at the old Michael's restaurant. They need to work on their attention to the customer, could be a problem down the road.

For a fish fry. Go to the Nutty Squirrel on Hwy 70 east of ER. The best bluegill/perch dinner you will get! Dawn has shown how to run a restaurant right, they will come if it is
managed right.

We tried to go to Eagle waters resort but was closed for a private party. Against better judgment we went to the white spruce off a locals suggestion. Without bashing them too bad not a good experience and we will never go back.

Another vote for the Nutty Squirrel. In addition to the fish, the broasted chicken and ribs are awesome. Also great sandwich menu. Very reasonable prices. Dawn, Karen, Bob and the entire crew are very friendly and accomodating.
