Twelve Pines in Conover is long gone . Log Cabin is still pretty good for pizza but 7 on my scale overall .
Dinky dinner is fun for breakfast if your not in a hurry or with 6 people . Honey bear is always good , great Bloody Mary's . Think Lanny's is way over priced and not that great .

I believe that was Twelve Pines North or something to that effect as it was a 2nd location. It did close but it has reopened but in a limited fashion as it is owned by the bank, I heard it was so the place could keep it liquor license as the bank does not want to lose it or something to that effect.

I live within walking distance. There was some kitchen work done then it reopened in the fall & they have had a steady supply of cars and sleds. I'm happy to see that. I heard the same regarding bank owned/liquor licence story.

Regarding the Log Cabin, New owner closed it for quite a long period of time early summer to do upgrades. (Maybe his timing was a mistake?). They have had traffic too but I believe that Broken Arrow may be taking some. Eaten there twice since, no complaints but can't rave either.

My wife and I will be riding in Eagle River this weekend so I am looking for suggestions for a good place for supper. Could be a good burger or up to fine dining. I am surprised at the number of poor reviews for the local establishments, just looking to steer clear of the bad ones and get some thoughts on the good places.

Hello,
This is a great question as it appears to me that there is nowhere "good" to eat in E-R, at least in the winter. I have asked the same question for years and seem to always go to one of the supper clubs in Lando Lakes instead due to the desert of good food options in E-R.

Sorry, Frank

Obviously there are good places to eat. But remember, you are asking for opinions and they will vary all over the spectrum. Those of us that live up here may as a general rule prefer a different atmosphere vs what the tourist will want or be willing to pay for. We may also go out to a favorite place mid week for their weekly special that won't be available on Fri or Sat when most tourists are here.

Also, we may patronize different places with the seasons because one may be on trail vs another on the lake and so on.

Riverstone doesn't have to be $50 a dude. We were in there Saturday night in our snowmobile gear on our way home from the yoop. We had pizzas and salads and a few beverages (not wine) and it came to $40 a guy with a very nice tip. We were treated very well even though we were in stinky snowmobile gear while everyone else in the restaurant was dressed nicely.

Yes you can spend $50 a person but they have some really nice stuff on the menu. Take your wife there for a nice dinner and you'll will gain a few points redeemable towards snowmobile weekend passes with the boys.

Hello,
Riverstone is a good example; my wife and I went twice for fish on Fridays and spent a good chunk of dough but the Walleye was greasy and thin. I don't mind paying for quality but it was absent.
In comparison, the Lake of the Torches Casino near Minocqua serves fresh Walleye that is 1.5 inches thick and is the real deal for much less.

Eagle River area has always had expensive eats. I think they assume that if you could afford property up there, you probably could afford their overpriced menus. Never had a meal up there that knocked my socks off other than the Sunday brunch at Eagle Waters.

Just ate at Victor's, mexican, in Eagle River this past weekend. Was good! I do miss Michael's though!! Ate at Lumpy's too and was good. Popular place and usually busy. Have had fish at the Honey Bear and very good. Stayed at Eagle Waters, cool bar area hang out but think they are trying to cater more to the dinner sit down crowd nowadays. 12 Pines for Pizza. It hasn't changed. Lief's for breakfast!

Lando- Log Cabin and Bent's Camp are fun places to stop. Log Cabin's food is pretty good. Haven't eaten at Bent's. Had good food at Lanny's last year.
