I have both a snowmobile and a Polaris RZR 1000XP and have been sledding for many years in Wisconsin and going on my 10th year of ATVing in Wisconsin. Been to many places atving in Wisconsin. Probably my favorite place to ride in Wisconsin is the Black River Falls area. It's closer to home for me. Nice twisty trails. ATV friendly. Best time to go IMHO is during the week as weekends can have a ton of atv traffic. If you are looking for an easy place to ride but rather boring riding but scenic, you can't go wrong with the Cheese Country Trail in the Darlington, Wisconsin area. Very atv friendly area. Can ride either the trail or the paved back roads/county roads. I also like riding eastern Vilas County trails in Northern Wisconsin. Not a lot of riding to be had. But really fun. I really wish all of Vilas would open up to ATV traffic. Marinette County in northern Wisconsin is also a great place to ride. The 2 times I've been to Marinette County I've hardly seen any traffic and that was on weekends. Nice wide trails and twisty. I've been to Hayward/Cable area once and wasn't overly impressed as at the time I was there (5 years ago) it was a lot of pavement running. I'm not opposed to riding pavement at all, but that can get boring, to me anyways. Maybe things have changed in that area? I'm not sure. But overall, my favorite place to ride is the Western U.P. and the Keweenaw in Michigan. To me that is spectacular riding. We make a yearly trip up there every fall. My buddy has a place in Watersmeet and we'll park our trucks/trailers at his place and take off on the side by sides for a week. Overall, great riding can be had in Wisconsin, or Michigan for that matter, and miles and fun can be racked up easily.

You want to go more in the direction of Clam Lake, and south towards Winter. The Dead Horse run is basically snowmobile trail 25 between Clam Lake and the Tuscobia - its a LONG run with nothing in between, but lots of mud holes if that is your thing, or lots of nice gravel trails, as well as a ton of forest roads if you want to open her up.

Iron county in Wisconsin is good riding also. They used to be better before they added culverts to some of the wet areas(trail 8 especially), but last time I rode it the water was winning and starting to get wet again. More of a trail feel and not so much gravel road.

Bayfield County! Iron River WI. Most of the snowmobile trails are also ATV/Utv trails. My Hubby is the Trails North atv club trail boss and grades these trails in summer. Check out our website or Face book page
