Blueberries or huckleberries?

So the wife and I go out picking blue berries. Are they really huckleberries and people mistake them for blueberries?

Well I'd say no but it depends.

Blueberries are blue maybe a deep blue and typically smaller than huckleberries.

HB's are purple and bigger in general. They do grow in a similar fashion, but the huckleberries are definitely bigger.

picked them a ton as a kid. blueberries are more plentiful around here.

Do the plants look a lot alike because I did see some darker purple ones but I just thought they're were over ripened?

Thanks!! I showed my wife last year what a thimble berry was ever since shes been berry crazy. We've on a berry hunt for over a month now we did get over 20 pounds of thimble berries 8 pounds of black berries and 5 pounds of blueberries so far. We never did get a accurate count on the raspberries.
