Boat trip planning need help !!

Just a rough SWAG estimate: A straight line course from the mouth of the Cheboygan River to the Drummond Island ferry dock: 57.6° Magnetic, 31.68 NM, which course would put you about 1½ NM off the east end of Bois Blanc Island, then would cut across Light house point, south of Detour Village, thus would require a minor course correction to the east, and a slight dog leg back to the west after passing the point.

That is an easy trip. Sailed it only a few years ago. Here is an easy way to get what you want.
Load your GPS with the area maps, and then put in your course, however direction you want to go, and then compute. It will give you distance and time based upon speed....and you never have to leave your easy-chair. The trip can be rough with a north or east wind. But the trip thru past Cochran Island into Meldrum bay and along Gore Bay and on thru Little current is some of the finest cruising you will do anywhere in the world. Waters are fairly protected and harbors along the way are good put overs if you need shore power. There is some phenomenal small mouth fishing in the shallows all along there right thru the end of July. August means tons of blue-berries just right for pancakes....and the water is jet blue and clear as a bell. Head back down thru Georgian Bay, and hit Tobermory and lay up in the big or little tub...then cruise the eastern shore down to Sarnia. Nice trip....
Stay away from the rocks, which are clearly visible during the day. Use a sounder with warning buzzer if you travel at low to no light conditions...not recommended for your first trip.

So your trip took you well beyond Drummond Island, into Canadian waters.

Cochran Island? Or maybe that's Cockburn Island?

Geez...I thought these were specialized men that WOMEN used when their husbands took off on extended snowmobile trips....
