What are the snow conditions like in Buffalo and Trempealeau counties? Looking to take a trip up there. Curious if they got snow from this most recent snow storm and trails are going to be opening soon?

There was one inch before the storm so it will depend on how much falls. And how much blows away. I believe Tremp Cty hotline number is posted in that thread, if it's still around. Or search for Eleva-Strum Snotrekkers Facebook page. That is usually up to date on Tremp Cty at least.

About 5" in the north and 8" on the south end of Tremp Cty. Enough to groom at least. But probly not to open. At least to the north. But we will see.

To try and pack a base down that will hopefully last all season. Letting sleds loose on 5" results in bare ground real quickly.

Packing the base allows the trail to keep freezing the ground underneath also, will take the tops of of gopher mound and plowed fields if there are any. It will also fill in when the wind blows with new snow sometimes which only helps. Plus you do get some hours for grooming too.

Northern Tremp was decent but we were the first ones on the trail. I'm guessing mostly good with fair mixed in after a little traffic. As long as it is this cold.
