Buying a snowmobile that fell through the ice?

I was looking at buying a newer snowmobile and I found one for a pretty good deal, only problem is that it fell through the ice last winter. Is there anything I should be worried about when looking at this sled later this week? The owner said it runs and drives great still. It is a 2015 and has around 900 miles only.

Thanks!

Oh yeah why do you think he is selling it?...lol... It is all about how the water logged engine was recovered which you will never know. I saw a doo PWC XP get water logged and everything you could do wrong with a water logged engine happened....totally blew up in next 3 hours. Then I saw a Kow PWC also get water logged and everything was done right and ran even better after it sank. If me I would not touch with a 391/2 foot pole per the Xmas Grinch. If not handled correctly you have junk for an engine not to mention corrosion in wire harnesses. Stay away not worth it.

I give the owner of this sled credit for being honest about the its history. With that said, good deals on used sleds that haven't been at the bottom of a lake all over the place. Heck, brand new 2017's with 0% financing can be had for good deals as well.

Unless you get it for a song (which you probably won't for a sled with only 900 miles) and have a totally reliable backup if it goes down, like others have said: RUN, RUN FAST.

I would never trust it. Too many electronics on new sleds that were never designed to go for a swim. It might run OK now but electrinic gremlins could pop up at any time. Not to mention things like water in the oil injection system or bad bearings in the engine waiting to cost you a pile. There are lots of good deals out there this time of the year. This isn't one of them. Keep looking.

Run fast run very very fast. There are still brand new 2015s and 2016s around Indiana with less than 2 miles on them for a good Ole song keep looking and you will find what you really really want with out it having a swimming history.

How many miles on the sled since it sank that would be my question. If the price is really great I would consider the gamble but it needs to be the deal of the century. Heck, I bought a blown up Mach Z 1000 but the price was really right 2500 miles for $500 All said and done I have about 2K in it and a completely rebuilt motor. I also added the pods to the intakes which has been said is the key to keeping the rod bearings from failing.
Fingers crossed it stays together I have about 300 miles on it so far. I am not a Skidoo guy but I figured I would give it a shot

how much is he asking? If drained properly after submerged you may be ok. But it would have to be a smoking deal. I sank a Doo PWC and had to have engine rebuilt. Put many more problem free hours on it after that

I think if your approach cost as salvage and you are ready to drop in a new engine and electrical it maybe worth the gamble. I'm betting this guy already has insurance settlement from the deep dive and may give you the right deal. I sold a clamshell trailer that way after a drunk tboned me for $500 and my buddy is still using it after 10 years. Covered my deuctible all I really cared about and insurance company was aok with it too.
