Carpenter Ants?

I bought my house from a relative and she left a bunch of wood in the barn that I use in the house fireplace. Lately I've been splitting it and the bark falls right off with the first smack of the axe. Once the bark falls off there is a ton of very fine dust that comes off each piece. I have never seen any carpenter ants but I’m not sure if that what it is. I attached a few pictures. There are a ton of small groves (almost look like a winding road) on the face of the wood and then small (1/8”) holes in the face. Its in all the different kinds of wood too.

I have had a few run ins with Carpenter Ants. They only see to go for wet - rotting wood.

I found this place. www.epestsupply.com
They have great examples of damage from all kinds of bugs.

What ever it is make sure you take care of it before it starts eating the house up.
I use bait stations with the liquid ant bait. I also perform a perimiter treatment around the house 4 times a year with Termidor SC.

Post powder beetle...bore down into dry wood and leave the powdery residue too....back when lumber was not kiln dried, this was a big problem..
