No idea what sleds but AC already in the deep deep water with the with OEM relationship with Yamaha & their own new 2s 600 engine. Now 2 more sleds to support??....Not a good idea already streching support resources. You know you can only stuff so many limes in a single crate.lol:)

Bingo! Who got in the sack with who? Yamaha and their billions? It's like Cat took the bait. Yamaha is needs what cat has, more market share. Drink the Kool aid cat loyal. (Wow, that sounds like Ezra, but different). I can't see traditional loyal yami guys or the radical cat guys meshing. I understand some will mesh but without the hardcore loyal jumping into the marriage. Doo and Poo will only grow from those confused with this mix. Sledders are pretty loyal. Throw in a crossbreed sled and sure end in site. Suspect that the Kawasaki/cat mix has also held cat back over the years. Good motor but not a american sled persa. I suspect that is why Poo dropped Fugi motors. What's your thoughts on this?
Note: this is my thought yours may vary. Let's hear it.

I've never liked Cats all that much, primarily cause of their colors. That's kind of lame I know. But my bud's who ride them seem to have good luck with them. High miles, not too many issues. A couple friends is a small sample size, I know. Also, I've been impressed that Cat seems to be more sled focused than the other three are. I don't know what their market share is, but if you look at their financials, they are growing and have zero debt. I hope this new 2 stroke is a winner for them. Maybe with its new injection system, it will be the EPA-compliant sled that lasts. Who knows.

I think this affair with Yamaha will do a lot for Cat - IMO, Cat needed a better 4 stroke, and, given Cat's history of issues when it releases a whole new chassis, it can't hurt to have someone with Yamaha's expertise in quality walking around the factory and signing off on some of the sleds that are being produced.

As much as I've never liked Cat's all that much, I think if I had the money, I'd be looking for a leftover or nearly new 2011 Crossfire 800 right now, as long as it wasn't green. Then in a few years after that, I'd add a Yamacat Viper to the collection also.

I'm not sure what Yami gets out out the deal, other than perhaps time to build a new chassis themselves. I can't see how anyone would see the Viper as anything other than a blue cat with a Yami engine. Sweet sled, but not a Yami.

All just my opinion.

If I were to guess a limited build 800 with the computer controlled oil injection?
I for 1 could care less what yammi and cat do I will guarantee yammi wont be building any 2s for cat and I have no intention if buying a 4s.
I have some confidence in cats motor engineers . they have a great track record with motor design over the last 20yrs. make no mistake cat did all the design and R&D on there 2s and Suzuki built them.
I wont be dropping any cash on a new power plant until it has been out for a few yrs.but that is just life experience in general.
I know lots of guys who are stoked to get there new yammi cats .
BTW believe it or not Yamaha is a very close 2nd on sleds I have owned .my first new sled was a blue enticer. and kept buying yammi until cat started using a arms. yeah about 20 yrs before the rest.
if this new 2s works out to be as bullet proof with close to the same power as the other lay down motors . it will be a game changer like it or not.

I see the Yamaha / AC Oem relationship as a win/win/win for AC,Yamaha & the customer. The Viper sold very well maybe the best of all sled models so far this year. My post reponse was directed at the thread subject AC releasing 2 new sleds & all ready has a platefull to digest this year. As far as Poo & Doo picking up market share because of OEM relationship between AC & Yamaha I just don't see the driver for that action. Cats are better than ever 4s enginewise & Yamaha picked up 1 sled model the Viper with many Yamaha upgrades. Now why would a Cat or Yamaha customer want a Poo or Doo?....I just don't see that connection at at all + Poo does not have a performance 4s so NOT even in the game for Yamaha folks & Doo is Doo the industry market leader always competes well with all OEMs. The Fugi motors were the best motors Poo ever had & the original base of the 1st Indys. Fugi motors is what made the Indy sucessful if those motors were POS Poo would not have enjoyed the market hit & penetration of that model....I know because I bought a bunch & checked engine specs of all competition in the 90s before I bought. OEM relationships work because these relationships are profitable & better fill voids than in hosue MFG. Pretty simple & common sense when you boil it down.:)

Kawi invader was the sled to have back in the day!!!

And I thought it was a mid to early 80's VMAX. before Yami re-marketed it as a pc. of junk. Yamaha really never did master the 2 stroker. I pulled many SRX triples out of the bush eh?! and what was that 4 cylinder sled? actually 2-2strokers one crank?

how can u say the srx was a pile?there are tons of them running around with well over 15k on original top ends.I would argue the best 2s ever reliability wise built for sled use ever. suspension on srx now that was junk .
and if u find a vmax 4 in mint condition it will prob bring more money than your rmk. there are a few i of those vmax 4 still competing in 1000ft and winning.
how many rounds u got on your srx lenny?

Back in the Day one of my brother in laws had one. constant issues with fouled plugs and end cylinder issues. He never got to ride with us. The other was an Electrician who had many of the same builders I had and he blew his up on the Magpie River. I towed it to the Poo dealer in Wawa and they gave him scrape value for it. He left with a new 2000 700 xcsp 45th anniversary sled, and still has that. So I guess we can find someone one with anything that has issues.
Sure wish I had my old 1972 Honda 70, I bet I could trade it for a cover for the RMK.........maybe.

I had an an 85 SRV bought new, ran it 4 years. it liked the gas. and the wife rode a Phazer then a Phazer II. the Phazer fishtailed a lot but worked for her. Loved the Yami Leather, they had the best leather suits. And leather was in back then. Oh, and the kids rode Bravo's back then. (I am not as loyal as many may think).
