Chain Case Seal

I have a 2000 polaris 600 xc sp. This year I have noticed oil on the floor everytime it sits in the garage after riding. I have been checking the oil level and it has been steadily going down but is still in the safe zone.

When I pull the dip stick, it has a milky color oil on it. I do believe that means I have a bad seal and need to replace it.

Any other info. would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Get new seal for $8 if it still leaks, your chaincase cover could be cracked, or the o-ring behind the driveshaft bearing could've ripped.

Both of those situations I have thought of. I am hoping its just the seal but we will find out! luckily I only ride this sled in the yard so it will never be a big problem far away from the barn!

Thanks!

You could just try throwing some gasket sealant on it also if you don't want to stick money into sled you ride around the yard.

Its only 8 bucks and i need to go over the chain anyway. I may just need to Change the chaincase oil too. My Dad said that the oil is a couple years old.

I change mine every couple hundred miles lol I put seafoam in it before i drain the oil. The inside is nice and clean therefore i dont have to clean anything.
