I'm changing my chaincase oil. Actually replacing the cover and gasket for the cover. I'm not going to use the "Polaris" brand. I can't find a spec in the owners manual or service manual. What is the recommended weight and non-Polaris brand? Synthetic, non-synthetic? TIA

I beg to differ...

thats your 2cents, lower bearing is barely in the oil, upper bearing isnt even close to the oil, might get a little spash on the out seal, keeps the outer seal well lubricated, same bearings that are used for all the idler wheels in the rear suspension, no lube there

Mobil-1 75-90 synthetic gear lube.

I was just going to buy the polaris brand, but forgot when I was at the dealer. I went to the local auto parts store and picked up Mobil-1 75W-90 synthetic gear lube. Would there be any reason this would not be a good idea to use this?

take apart one of those bearings in the case after they have some good miles on them, most the time they are still like new unlike the suspension bearings.

Poo or Amsoil synthetic are both recomended for Poo chaincases. I think it takes 12 oz. Don't try to reinvent the wheel. They want synthetic chain case oil in there.

Have used this in my chaincases for over 10 years without issue. Approaching 10k miles on my Vector and chain, gears, etc. look like new....I know they're not but they still look like it! Other sleds up to 7k miles and no issues either.

Whatever you decide, just make sure it's synthetic.

Chaincase oil is GL rated so it is a gearlube. You won't find that on any OEM bottle but it's essentially some 75-90 synthetic gear lube.
