Changing 2 stroke oil brands

I just bought a polaris snowmobile with 2,300 miles on it. The previous owner used polaris VES oil and the reservoir is currently full of it. I want to switch to AMSOIL interceptor (i use it in my other sled and all the guys I ride with use it). How do I go about doing this? I heard that I just let the current oil reservoir get low and add AMSOIL over the top of the polaris VES. Anybody done this before?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, I believe the process of changing oil is that simple. I have done that to mine several times. As long as you go from synthetic to semi synthetic or vice versa... you should be ok. I believe some have concerns when going from mineral to full synthetic.... but I can't remember ever having a issue with that either.

It is compatible with most mineral and synthetic two-cycle oils, however, for best performance, mixing oils should be minimized so run it low and then add it.

Switch to Klotz and you'll be good. Shouldn't be any problems...

Shouldn't have problems with ANY oil, as long as you 1) don't run it without oil, 2) use an oil that is designed for snowmobiles, and 3) use an oil that meets or exceeds the requirements stated by the OEM. There are lots of oils that fulfill the latter two. Pick one that fits your budget and pleases your nose (if that's important to you).
