A footnote on this year’s project:
Of all the project episodes that have been documented on the site, this one has been the most fun. Lots of great input and lots of great conversations. I know for a fact that if I ever run into any of you somewhere, we’ll have a BS session (and maybe a beer) like old friends.
I’ve mentioned this before, but it does seem a little weird to have a project finished. You live and breathe these things for months and all at once, it’s over. It takes a few days for it to sink in. I do hope though, if I ever mention doing two sleds at the same time again, someone will travel up to Lake of the Woods and slap some sense into me.
I will have plenty to keep me busy for the rest of the winter and what will happen in the future is hard to say. Every year, I’ve said that the current project would be my last and you see how well that’s worked out.
It’s funny how things hit you sometimes. I was out in the shop the other night replacing the fuel pump on the 340 Cyclone and when it was finished, I stood back and just took in the shop scene. For a minute, it felt like a step back in time and I remember thinking “how lucky am I to get to experience this.” I think that says it all.
